THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1701 - The Collegiate School was founded in Killingworth, CT. The school moved to New Haven in
1745 and changed its name to Yale College.

DHS Girls Basketball will be holding their annual Lady Blue Devil Basketball Camp.  If you are in grades 4th through 8th
and interested in basketball, we'd love to see you out on the courts with us October 25th - 26th from 12:00-4:00.  Please

TODAY:  Come to the DHS Unicycle Club every Thursday at lunch in N-10.  We now have unicycles!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: PSAT Test is this Saturday, 10/18: Students MUST bring photo ID for entry and arrive
to N-4 by 7:30am for their classroom assignment. Doors close at 8am and you will not be admitted after. Park in the Oak
St.  lots near the stadium and watch for cyclists!  Check the brochure for accepted calculators and no cell phones.

Attention all Fall ILS students: Assignment #3 is due this Friday.  Turn in your work to your instructor in the small gym
during 7th period or turn in to the 'ILS turn in' tray in the Front Office.

SENIORS: The early bird price deadline for senior ads in the yearbook is October 31st.  Pick up and return order forms to
P-21, Mr. Achimore.
Attention All Clubs!   If you want to have your club photo in the yearbook, pick up a form in Mr. Achimore's room, P-21.
The forms will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and only the best 35 club forms will be accepted.  The last
day for turn-in forms is November 7th.

MISCELLANEOUS:  DO YOU VOLUNTEER? Girls, ages 14 to 17 who like to participate in volunteering projects are
encouraged to apply for the Violet Richardson Award, a $1,000 grant from Soroptimist International of Davis.  Priority is
given to applicants whose work focuses on one project that wasn't undertaken to earn a different award. Download an
application at http://www.sidavis.org/awards. Include photos, news clippings and other supporting documents. Send
submissions (digital only) and questions to Wendy Weitzel at wendyedit at gmail.com<mailto:wendyedit at gmail.com>.   The deadline is Dec. 1.
CLUBS/EVENTS:  Stop by C-4 for a sign-up packet for the 2014 Intramural Dodgeball season.  Teams are made up of 6 - 9
players and games will take place at lunch during the month of November.  Turn in your sign-up sheet by October 29th to
C-4!
If you are interested in Korean culture, the Korean Club is the place for you.   We meet Fridays at lunch in Room L-14.
We will do lots of fun activities and learn about Korea.  No Korean language required!  Join us in L-14.

It's LGBT History Month!  Did you know that same-sex couples are denied 6,138 federal rights straight couples have?

Hello CSF members! We will be having a meeting on Friday at lunch in Mrs. O'Brien's room, P-13.  We will discuss
upcoming projects and volunteer opportunities.

Attention artists! The DHS Car Club needs your help in designing the 2014 - 2015 Car Club t-shirt. Draw a cool car or
whatever you think would look good on our shirt. Submit your design electronically to rthayer at djusd.net<mailto:rthayer at djusd.net> or in person to
Mr. Thayer in room O-3. The winner of this year's contest will receive a Car Club t-shirt and a $20 Jamba Juice gift card.
Submissions are due Friday, October 31. For more information, contact Mr. Thayer in room O-3. We can't wait to see
your design!

Where can you meet Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Cinderella and her Prince and Jack with his beanstalk?  At DHS
Drama's fall musical, 'Into the Woods' performed on November 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th and 15th at 7:00 in the IPAB!  There will
be another performance on November 9th at 2:00 pm.  Be careful what you wish for!
