MARCH IS WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH:   Writer and poet, Phyllis McGinley was born today in 1905.  Ms.
McGinley won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1961.

SAVE THE DATE!  Sports Physical Clinic at Sutter Family Medicine, 2030 Sutter Place, Davis - Saturday,
June 7th from 8:30-11:30 am - $20. donation benefits DHS Athletics Department.   Athletes in grades 7-
12 are encouraged to complete their sports physicals this spring to be ready for the 2014-15 school year.

Today is the deadline to apply for the Davis Chinese Association Scholarship for seniors of Chinese
descent.  If you have demonstrated academic excellence and participated in school and community
activities, come to the Career Center for an application.

The SUMMER ACTIVITIES, SCHOLARSHIP AND JOB FAIR is TODAY AT LUNCH outside the Career Center.
There will also be a West Point representative at the fair to answer your questions about West Point.

Today is Eastpitch Friday!   Come support the Varsity Softball team at 4:15; you could win an IPAD mini!

There is a CSF meeting today!  Come to P-13, Ms. O'Brien's room at lunch to sign up for new projects.
Officer applications are now available in P-13 as well.

SENIORS:  Are you interested in speaking at your graduation ceremony?  If yes, pick up an application
form from Vice Principal McHale in the office this week.

Seniors, it's that time you have all been waiting for! Senior Ball is here!  Ticket sales begin April 8th with
prices starting at $60. with ASB and $70 without ASB.  Prices will increase weekly!  Tickets are available
at lunch at the Finance Office window from April 8th to April 25th.  If you have financial needs regarding
Senior Ball tickets, please talk to your counselor.

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:   Are you an English learner looking to improve your school?  The next ELAC
is April 1st, after break.  Ask your English teacher or visit Mr. Vasquez in L-10 to find out how you can
help improve the DHS experience for all students learning English.

Students interested in pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine are invited to attend UC Davis' School of
Veterinary Medicine "Future Day" on Saturday, April 19 from 8:30-3:00.  Future Day is a free event for
students and will focus on veterinary medicine and interactive labs.  The event is free and includes a
light breakfast, lunch and refreshments.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Student Forum meets Wednesday, April 2nd at lunch in Room L-22.  Come share your
opinions!  Treats provided!

Tuesday, March 25 is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the April 2014 DHS PTA
newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserv at
DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org and include your name and a parent or faculty name and contact
information (e-mail address and phone number) in case the newsletter editor has questions about your
submission. Please be sure to include a teacher or parent contact and his/her phone number or e-mail
address. The newsletter is generally available around the 1st of each month. This is a great way to
inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.

GRAD NIGHT:  Seniors!  Don't forget that ticket prices will go up if you wait until June to purchase your
ticket! Please go to davisgradnight.org and either purchase the ticket online or download the ticket form
and mail in with your check.  Don't forget to send a kindergarten picture of yourself (with a self-
addressed, stamped envelope for return) for the "Kinder Wall."  Scanned pictures of good quality are
OK!  Don't wait until the ticket price goes up!
