NEW:
The DHS Site Council is looking for dedicated students to join our committee. The Site Council consists of Principal Brown, staff, parents and students. The Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievement and supports new programs at its monthly meetings. If you would like to help shape the future of our school, please pick up an application from Vice Principal McHale in the office by Thursday, September 5. Applications are due Friday, September 6.

"The Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) will hold its first meeting of the year this Friday, tomorrow, at lunch in L-28, Mr. Wheeler's classroom.  All students are welcome. We are looking forward to a fun and productive year, making sure that Davis High is a safe and inclusive space for all students."

Attention current LINK Crew leaders: There is a mandatory meeting this Friday (September 6th) in room L-25 (Mr. Elliott's Room).

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:  The Davis Art Center is looking for volunteers for their "Design Launch and Flight Derby" at the UC Davis Arboretum Gazebo this Sunday, September 8th, from 9 am - 2:30 pm.  Volunteers are needed to help set up tables and chairs, clean up, and assist with crafts during the event. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:  Davis Media Access is offering a four-month, non-paid internship where students can gain hands-on experience and exposure to many aspects of community television production.  Interns must be at least 16 years old and able to work 3-6 hours per week.  The deadline to apply is September 13.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

College visits begin in the Career Center on Monday September 9!  Come to the Career Center or go on Naviance for the date and time of each college visit.  Students must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit, and must check in with their teacher before leaving class to attend a visit.  If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center or see your counselor.

ONGOING/UPCOMING:
The Guitar Club holds its first meeting today at 12:00 in room P-22. This is primarily an informational meeting, so there is no need to bring a guitar. All styles and ability levels are welcome.

Reminder to Staff: Davis PD begins ticketing on Monday, September 9. Make sure your parking placard is visible in your vehicle at all times.

Davis Senior High School's Career Center is open!  The Career Center provides student support and resources for college planning, scholarships, financial aid, jobs, volunteer opportunities, summer activities, test preparation, study abroad programs, and more!  Students and parents are welcome to visit the Career Center located behind the theater Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.



Calling all dancers! The DHS Jazz Choir announces its 4th annual dance competition, "Everybody Dance Now!" Ten dance acts will compete to win one of two cash prizes ($75 and $150). Application forms are available in the DHS office, in the Vocal Room (P-08) and on the Jazz Choir website (www.dhsjazzchoir.org<http://www.dhsjazzchoir.org> ) Applications must be received by Friday, 9/6 at 3:00pm along with a $10 application fee.

Reminder:  The Finance Office is open during lunch for any student transactions including Unitrans bus ticket sales.
