-It's not too late to join the 2012 DHS Track and Field Team. We are looking for hard-working athletes: grades nine through twelve, all event groups, no prior track and field experience necessary. -For Lunch today we have Chicken Curry over local rice, Chicken Eggroll with fried rice, Potato Bar with steamed veggies, taco meat, cheese, kidney beans and the soup is Clam Chowder with oyster crackers.


-Hey CSFers!  It's time to take the CSF yearbook photo.   Meet today, Friday, Feb 10 on the north side of the new gym.  Wear a WHITE shirt!  Also, your report cards will be arriving any day!  Please remember to save it for CSF Registration which begins on Valentine's Day, Feb 14 at lunch in P-13.


-If you are going to Friendship Day, Today, Friday February 10th, please turn in your permission slips to the Front Desk  TODAY !  See you there!

-Remember Students! Monday, February 13 is a holiday in honor of President Lincoln's Birthday!  Also, Monday February 20 is also a holiday in honor of Presidents' Day!

-Tuesday, February 14 there is an assembly for ASB Elections.  Sophmores and Juniors check into their homeroom classes and then go together to the North Gym.  Seniors  meet in their homerooms and then as a class, go to the Brunelle Theater to discuss important senior considerations.  Teachers with no homerooms are asked to report to the North Gym where you are needed to help people find their seats.  Thank you everyone.  The schedule is as follows:

-Davis High students continue to distinguish themselves! This time in the area of automotive technology! Saturday, February 4th, four ROP Auto students received gold medals for their winning performance at the SkillsUSA regional competition at American River College. Those students now qualify to compete at the state level. All students enrolled in the advanced auto course, which is called ROP Auto, are eligible to be on the SkillsUSA team. Go DHS ROP Auto students!

-A representative from The Art Institutes will be in the Career Center at lunch on Tuesday, February 14 to talk about their degree programs in the areas of design, media arts, fashion, or culinary. See you in the Career Center on the 14th at lunch!

- Interested in traveling abroad?  Learn about EF Tours from Mr. Williams and Ms. Tessler.  Wednesday, Feb. 15, lunchtime in the Career Center.

-Planning on attending a community college next fall?  Join counselors for a presentation about Community Colleges -- Thursday, Feb. 16, lunchtime in the Career Center (room change from South Gym).

-Students:  You are invited to attend a presentation on Career Technical Education and AP courses.  Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 pm in the IPAB.  Teachers will present and there will be a student panel.  Learn about internships, certifications, challenges of AP courses, and hear from students who have taken these classes.

-CAML #5 will be offered at lunch in any math classroom on Tuesday February 14.

-This week has been Spirit Week for the 'Break the Record Night' Black Light Dance February 10th after the Varsity Basketball game.  Thanks to those spirited Blue Devils who dressed up Wear Blue Thursday and today is White Out Friday!  Remember to come and cheer our team at the game!

REMINDER!!!  Applicants to AP Art studio for 2012-13 must turn in their portfolios DUE Friday, February 17 to any art teacher!

-Reminder - Participation in student activities is a privilege, is encouraged, and plays an important part in insuring that students have a well-rounded high school experience. Please don't earn a spot on the No Activities List by failing to follow DHS rules and expectations for behavior and attendance. Placement on the NAL would prevent you from participating in fun activities such as break-the record night, the black-light dance, and even playing on an athletic team. Follow guidelines that are designed to help you be successful.  Don't go NAL!!

-Please donate your slightly-used jeans to your 4th period class to win a pizza party!  The winning school gets $5,000. and a free pair of jeans for everyone.  Donations end today, Friday so donate now!

-Jazz Choir Tickets still available! Sunday, February 12 - 5pm at Emerson Jr. High
$40-adults; $20-students. Dinner catered by Cracchiolo's plus a silent auction and raffle.

-Still deciding where to go after high school?   Up for a fun trip with friends?    The City of Davis is sponsoring the SoCal Safari for a tour of 6 Southern California Universities including UCLA and UCSB.  The trip runs from April 9 - April 12 and the cost is $490.00. --We are pleased to announce that DSHS has successfully submitted 2012 senior class verified GPA information for Cal Grants. This means students do not need to complete the paper GPA verification form to apply for a Cal Grant.  To be considered for a Cal Grant, students must submit the FAFSA by March 2.  Come to the Career Center N-17 if you have questions.
