ATHLETICS
-The DHS Break-the-Record Night tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 10th will feature the Blue Devils going up against the Monterey Trail Mustangs at the DHS new gym with an all-out evening of excitement. The JV Men's team starts the action at 3:30 pm, followed by the JV Women's team at 5:00 pm and the Varsity Women's team at 6:30 pm. The Varsity Men's team finishes out the evening beginning at 8:00 pm.

-It's not too late to join the 2012 DHS Track and Field Team. We are looking for hard-working athletes: grades nine through twelve, all event groups, no prior track and field experience necessary. We will take new members through this first week of practice but not afterwards.  If you are interested, now is the time!

TODAY
-For Lunch today we have Sweet and Sour Pork Meatballs over local rice, Buffalo Chicken Tender over local rice, Taco Bar with bean and cheese, chalupa, taco meat, nacho cheese and salsa.  The soup is minestrone with wheat dinner roll.


NEW
-CAML #5 will be offered at lunch in any math classroom on Tuesday February 14.

-SENIORS:  This is the time of year to apply for financial aid!  To apply for federal and state financial aid, you need to complete the FAFSA by March 2. Come to the Career Center N-17 for help and information on financial aid.

REMINDER!!!  Applicants to AP Art studio for 2012-13 must turn in their portfolios DUE Friday, February 17 to any art teacher!

-Attention NHS members, registration continues through next week for spring semester.  Bring money, your ID card and your 1st semester grades to S-12 during lunch.  See you there!

-Reminder - Participation in student activities is a privilege, is encouraged, and plays an important part in insuring that students have a well-rounded high school experience. Please don't earn a spot on the No Activities List by failing to follow DHS rules and expectations for behavior and attendance. Placement on the NAL would prevent you from participating in fun activities such as break-the record night, the black-light dance, and even playing on an athletic team. Follow guidelines that are designed to help you be successful.  Don't go NAL!!

-Please donate your slightly-used jeans to your 4th period class to win a pizza party!  The winning school gets $5,000. and a free pair of jeans for everyone.  Donations end Friday so donate now!

-This week is Spirit Week for the 'Break the Record Night' Black Light Dance February 10th after the Varsity Basketball game.  Thanks to those spirited Blue Devils who dressed up for -ER Day Wednesday (plumber, teacher, firefighter, etc.), today is Wear Blue Thursday and tomorrow is White Out Friday!  Remember to come and cheer our team at the game!



-Hey CSFers!  It's time to take the CSF yearbook photo.   Meet this Friday, Feb 10 on the north side of the new gym.  Wear a WHITE shirt!  Also, your report cards will be arriving any day!  Please remember to save it for CSF Registration which begins on Valentine's Day, Feb 14 at lunch in P-13.


-Wazzup smiling rain drops?  If you are going to Friendship Day, Friday February 10th, please turn in your permission slips to the Front Desk by TODAY February 9th.  See you there!

-Jazz Choir Tickets still available! Sunday, February 12 - 5pm at Emerson Jr. High

- Have a great idea for a new club? Come by room C-4 to grab a club application and see your idea become a reality. Apps are due tomorrow, Friday, February 10.

-Still deciding where to go after high school?   Up for a fun trip with friends?    The City of Davis is sponsoring the SoCal Safari for a tour of 6 Southern California Universities including UCLA and UCSB.  The trip runs from April 9 - April 12 and the cost is $490.00. -Sophomore and Juniors: Would you like to do research at UC Davis this summer?  The UC Davis Young Scholars Program is offering opportunities in biology and the natural sciences for high achieving high school students.  Applications are due March 31. Come to the Career Center for more information.

--We are pleased to announce that DSHS has successfully submitted 2012 senior class verified GPA information for Cal Grants. This means students do not need to complete the paper GPA verification form to apply for a Cal Grant.  To be considered for a Cal Grant, students must submit the FAFSA by March 2.  Come to the Career Center N-17 if you have questions.

-Cold and flu season health tips:  If you have a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, stay home until you are 24 hours fever-free.  Remember to wash your hands with warm water, use hand sanitizer and cover your coughs with your elbows.  Let's stay well, Blue Devils!
