REMINDER

      1.        Are you satisfied with your portrait picture package? Photo retakes will take place on October 5th. You must bring your original portrait package with you in order to retake your new picture (if you have one). Please sign up at the front desk before Wednesday, October 29th.

      2.        Seniors: Learn more about applying to private schools at the private school workshop on Thursday at lunchtime in the old gym.

3.      The DHS football program snack bar and Devil wear booths need volunteers from each family at all levels of the program. While concession stand is still under construction we will be setting up a snack bar with tables, pop-up tens, ice chest and a grill. The Devil Wear booth is still out on the home side of the stadium. We can also use help from frosh, JV and Varsity parents. 4.      Honor Society registration will be held at lunch outside room S-12 from Monday, September 26th to Friday, October 1st. Please bring your student ID, $5 registration fee and your transcript showing a minimum GPA of 3.4.

NEW

      1.        Are you good at math or science? Do you enjoy helping people? Then become to a math and science tutor! To become a tutor, talk to Mr. Van Muyden in room S-9 for information.

      2.        Hey seniors! Don't forget to come to the 2nd Homecoming float meeting this Wednesday, September 29th in Mr. Curley's room at lunch.

      3.        VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: All Things Right and Relevant is looking for volunteers to work in their East 8th Street store. Volunteers are needed to help customers, work the cash register, tag items in the store, and assist with other activities as needed. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for more information and an application.

      4.        Are you interested in being part of a group that is dedicated to improving our school, increasing school spirit and making DHS a welcoming place for all students? Then join the Climate Committee and make your voice heard! We will this Friday at lunch in N-15. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Diaz, Ms. Floyd or Mr. McHale.

      5.        Patwin Elementary is looking for Outdoor Education CABIN LEADERS! Cabin leaders are needed for their trip to Walker Creek Ranch on Nov. 29-Dec. 3. Cabin leaders must work well with children, and have an outgoing personality with an enthusiasm for the outdoors. If interested, please come to the main office for an application. Applications must be submitted to Patwin Elementary School by October 8.

      6.        Independent Lifetime Sports: All currently enrolled students need to be coming to check in every Monday at the start of lunch in the old gym to turn in their weekly activity logs and their weekly assignment. Please note that fitness testing for ALL students will be Thursday 7th period block on October 14th. You must attend this testing period and you must dress out. You will be expected to stay in class the entire block period. If you receive an F or an in danger of failing on your progress report, see your teacher and your counselor immediately. If you have any questions: see your teacher.

      7.        Hey Davis High students! Davis Operation Smile Club is inviting you to a speaker on Wednesday at lunch in L-21! A dental surgeon from San Francisco, Dr Matt Young has gone on 6 missions trips through Operation Smile! This event is absolutely free so, don't miss out!

      8.        As it starts to get colder, don't forget that blue devil sweatshirts are on sale for $15.00 year round in the physical education department. See Ms. Whitmire if you would like to buy one before the next cold day!

      9.        Seniors: Are you thinking about attending a California State University next year? Come to the CSU application workshop on Thursday at 7pm at the IPAB. A representative from the CSU's will be there to talk about the schools, explain how to use CSU mentor and to answer your questions.

      10.       Do you have difficulty satisfying your thirst for classic literature? Does Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work move you emotionally? Then join us at the Literacy Society, where we discuss the work of this mystery master. Sugary compensation will be provided. Meet in S-1 on Wednesday at lunch.

      1.        Attention all 9-12 graders, the DHS wrestling team will have an athlete and parent informational meeting on Wed. Sept. 29 at 7pm in the MPR at DHS. All athletes both returning and incoming should attend. We will discuss this season's schedule and upcoming fundraisers as well as answer any questions.

2.      VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Cool Davis Foundation is looking for student volunteers      to help with their Green Living Festival on Sunday, October 10 from 2-5 p.m. Volunteer  opportunities include set up help, greet visitors at the entrance; usher at the Vets Memorial, food     room help, political table host, or clean up. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office  (located next to counseling) for more information.
