REMINDER

      1.        VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Cool Davis Foundation is looking for student volunteers to help with their Green Living Festival on Sunday, October 10 from 2-5 p.m. Volunteer opportunities include set up help, greet visitors at the entrance; usher at the Vets Memorial, food room help, political table host, or clean up. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office (located next to counseling) for more information.

      2.        Are you interested in being part of a group that is dedicated to improving our school, increasing school spirit and making DHS a welcoming place for all students? Then join the Climate Committee and make your voice heard! We will this Friday at lunch in N-15. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Diaz, Ms. Floyd or Mr. McHale.

      3.        Come to support Blue Devil soccer vs. Jesuit this Saturday October 2. 5:00JV/7:00V. Bring your ASB card and get in free, admission $5 general, $3 student w/out ASB, $2 seniors and children 8-11.

      4.        Honor Society's last day of registration will be held during lunch outside Mr. Richardson's room S-12 on Friday, October 1st. Please bring your student ID, $5 registration fee, last years report card or transcript showing a minimum GPA of 3.4.

TODAY

      1.        Cafeteria: BBQ day: Hamburger, hot dog, chicken and veggie patty, grilled fruit or vegetables, sandwich.

      2.        DSHS will host a CSU presentation for seniors and their parents in the IPAB on Thursday, September 30th at 7:00pm. Emiliano Diaz, Director of Admissions and Outreach, for Sacramento State University, will present the latest information on the status of admissions in the California State University system as well as review the CSU Mentor application process. After the presentation, you will have the opportunity to ask questions in person.

      3.        Seniors: Learn more about applying to private schools at the private school workshop on Thursday at lunchtime in the old gym.

      4.        Seniors: Are you thinking about attending a California State University next year? Come to the CSU application workshop on Thursday at 7pm at the IPAB. A representative from the CSU's will be there to talk about the schools, explain how to use CSU mentor and to answer your questions.

NEW

      1.        Attention JUNIORS: The PSAT is coming soon!! Sign ups for the PSAT are Oct 4th thru Oct 7th during lunch in the large conference room. The test is on Saturday, October 16th from 7:45am to 11:30 am. The cost is only $23.00.

      2.        The Gay-Straight Alliance will meet, as usual, on Friday at lunch in L-10 (under the Love Boat stairs). All Blue Devil students and staff are welcome.

3.      DHS Band Carwash Fundraiser come and support your high school musicians and bring your dirty cars to be washed this Saturday, October 2nd from 9am-1pm at the DJUSD parking lot across from Farmer's market. 4.      Mark your calendars now and join us for the DHS Ski Team Informational Meeting on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 7pm. We'll be holding our meeting at the Davis High School, Room N-7 for 9th-12th graders, parents and guardians. Information about our always exciting ski team season will be provided. Did you know that DHS Ski Team placed 2nd in the state in 2009, and were State Champions in 2008? Come join the DHS Ski Team and bring your friends to our first team meeting on October 5th and be a part of our team of champions!       6.        The North Davis Volunteer Club will be having its first meeting of the year Tuesday, October 4th at lunch in L-21! Come and learn about volunteering in the North Davis Elementary School reading room and sibling club. See you there!

      7.        Make the right move and come to Chess Club. Whether you're a veteran or a beginner, be sure to attend our first meeting on Monday during lunch in room P-20. See you there!!!

      8.        Are you good at math or science? Do you enjoy helping people? Then become to a math and science tutor! To become a tutor, talk to Mr. Van Muyden in room S-9 for information.

      9.        Mandatory Peer tutor on Wednesday, October 6 at lunch in M-1. We will be discussing the semester to date and up coming changes to the class expectations.

CONTINUED

      1.        VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: All Things Right and Relevant is looking for volunteers to work in their East 8th Street store. Volunteers are needed to help customers, work the cash register, tag items in the store, and assist with other activities as needed. Come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office for more information and an application.

      2.        Independent Lifetime Sports: All currently enrolled students need to be coming to check in every Monday at the start of lunch in the old gym to turn in their weekly activity logs and their weekly assignment. Please note that fitness testing for ALL students will be Thursday 7th period block on October 14th. You must attend this testing period and you must dress out. You will be expected to stay in class the entire block period. If you receive an F or an in danger of failing on your progress report, see your teacher and your counselor immediately. If you have any questions: see your teacher.

3.      Patwin Elementary is looking for Outdoor Education CABIN LEADERS! Cabin leaders are needed for their trip to Walker Creek Ranch on Nov. 29-Dec. 3. Cabin leaders must work well with children, and have an outgoing personality with an enthusiasm for the outdoors. If interested, please come to the main office for an application. Applications must be submitted to Patwin Elementary School by October 8.
