Emily,

Thanks for checking-in on this. There was no further review of this project by the Old North board since the preliminary review. That said, the board has always been generally supportive of the addition of second units and continued investment in properties.

The board does not meet again until the 3rd week in September, so we will not be able to formally comment in time for the Planning Commissions hearing. That said, one item does jump out at me on the plans you shared. The geometry (and, therefore, the usability) of the parking space off the alley. Can you actually make the turn into it? And, with the gate shown as opening in to the space is there adequate space for the vehicle?

Another consistent neighborhood issue is the preservation of our tree canopy. The plan seems to indicate preservation of the large sycamore.

Hi John,

I'm reviewing my packet for this week's Planning Commission meeting, and noticed you sent a letter of support on behalf of ONDNA for the proposed ADU and garage at 601 D Street back in April. You noted at the time that no elevations were available for you to review, and I wanted to ask whether the board had been given the opportunity to review the proposal with more detail on the design, elevations, and site plan and whether they had any additional comments or concerns or were still supportive of advancing the project.

If you haven't seen it, the packet attachment with the project details is available at:

Thanks for your time,

Emily Shandy
