DAVIS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

ATTENDANCE: When leaving school please remember to come to the attendance window early in the morning to collect your pass to leave school. To receive a pass your legal guardian must write you a note or call the attendance office to leave a message. Without following these steps your absence will not be cleared. If you have questions, please stop by the attendance window. Thank you for your cooperation.
ATHLETICS: Please join us on Tuesday, October 5th at Chipotle in Davis to support Davis High Cheer!  From 4-8pm, a percentage of sales will go back to support the team for our competition season that begins in November.  Flyers will be available by asking any cheerleader or grabbing it off our instagram at @davischeerleading. We hope to see you there!
Any 9th-12th grade girls interested in trying out for the girls' basketball team at Davis High please contact coach Heather Highshoe at hhighshoe at djusd.net<mailto:hhighshoe at djusd.net>. Pre-season workouts are currently underway, and tryouts begin November 1.
Girls Lacrosse will begin Fall Training on Mon. October 11. We will meet on the DSHS soccer field at 5pm. Practices will be Mon &Tues from 5-6:30pm.  All 9-12th grade girls interested in playing lacrosse in the spring are invited to attend. Athletes must have a physical on file and be cleared to participate through the DSHS Athletic Department. The 3rd Annual Davis Wrestling Camp (for students in grades 6-12) is right around the corner! We will be having two, one-week camps: October 4-7 & October 11-14. Camp is a great way to tryout wrestling for a week before committing to an entire season. It is officially Fall and the Davis High Snowboard Race Team is getting ready for winter. Dryland conditioning begins in early November. Athletes must be cleared with the Athletics Dept. to be able to participate. A Zoom informational meeting will be held tonight at 7pm. ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS/: Student Application for DHS Site Council, 2021-22-The DHS Site Council is looking for two dedicated students to join our committee. DHS Site Council consists of the principal, staff members, parents and students. The Site Council discusses ways to improve our school and supports existing and new programs. Serving on Site Council is a great way to shape our school's future.
The Site Council meets on the third Thursday of each month from approximately 3:45 PM to 5:00 PM.  It is very important that each member attend each meeting and participate.
To apply, submit a paragraph statement explaining your reasons for applying and your qualifications for serving. Your statement must be no longer than 80 words. You must submit your statement to Principal McHale at tmchale at djusd.net<mailto:tmchale at djusd.net> by 5:00 PM on Monday, October 4, 2021.  Your statement will be available for students to read before a school-wide election for the student positions.

DAVIS GRAD NIGHT IS BACK-GRAD NIGHT 2022 IS ON THE CALENDAR-We are so excited to hold Grad Night again for our 2022 graduating seniors and need your help.  Parents, please join us on October 12th to kick-off the event and join the planning committee.  We choose the super- secret event theme at this meeting and form decorating and other event committees.

CLUBS: The DHS Activism Club is meeting at lunch this Friday. Please join us outside the P-building for lunch then we will go into P-25 for the meeting.
Are you interested in helping students with STEM schoolwork? If you want to get tutoring experience & volunteer hours? If so, come to Math & Science Tutoring's first meeting on Monday, October 4th, in Mr. Van Muyden's room at the beginning of lunch. You'll learn about how to become a tutor and the requirements and benefits. We hope to see you there!

Hey DHS, on Friday, October 15th Student Government will be hosting its annual Homecoming Parade in downtown Davis. A tradition filled with floats, music, and fun! We are now taking applications from all clubs and student organizations. Each club will be in charge of creating/supplying their own float. Applications are available in the office or in ASC-100 are due to ASC-100 by Friday, 10/01. The website will let you know your appointment code. Enter the appointment code to the appropriate box, and it will show the date and time of your on-campus appointment. From there you will be able to view your appointment as well as change your appointment.

Plan for retakes: If you have already taken Senior Portraits, but would like to re-do your pictures, please email byterritory at lifetouch.com<mailto:byterritory at lifetouch.com> by October 6, 2021. Prestige will then be able to schedule you for a re-do session at the PRESTIGE STUDIO. Please note that re-takes have an additional fee determined by Prestige.

Deadline to photograph for Senior Portraits is by October 28, 2021. If Seniors miss the deadline they will not be in the yearbook.
