Davis Senior High School Bulletin

THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1913- Moving assembly line debuts at Ford factory.
Daily: Students breakfast and lunch is available Monday through Friday at DHS.  Lunch applications are available at the front office.
ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS: Are you under 18 and interested in getting a work permit? Please note that work permits are issued to individuals who have accepted a position, not to individuals who are in the process of seeking a job. Steps are on the school website, under the Resources tab select Apply for a work permit complete the entire form and drop it off at the main office or email Ms. Nancy Serrano-Montoy at nserranomontoy at djusd.net<mailto:nserranomontoy at djusd.net>. If you have an expired work permit that is no longer valid, you need to complete new paperwork. Students with work permits are required to maintain appropriate attendance and school performance to maintain their work permits.
For active clubs, new clubs, and a club list, try the Student Life drop down menu on dshs.djusd.net. The Student Government link on that drop down will send you to https://dshs.djusd.net/student_life/student_government.
Make Up Days for Senior Portraits will be October 26th - October 30th. Please be on the lookout for your pre-scheduled appointment to be sent from Lifetouch.
DHS testing center is now open for the Nov 7th SAT. Students can sign-up at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register
Advanced Placement Exams (AP) are $99 per exam.  The 2021 AP exams will be full-length traditional AP Exams administered in schools. AP will provide a contingency testing option if school building closes for safety concerns. Given this year's unusual circumstances, the unused/canceled exam fee won't be applied if students register at https://myap.collegeboard.org by the due date. There will still be a $40 fee for late orders. The AP Exam registration is a two-step process. Students must register at My AP and Total Registration.

AP Courses in periods 2,4,6 & Exam Only - Friday, October 23, 2020
AP Courses in periods 1,3,5,7                      - Wednesday, February 10, 2021
How to Join the AP Class Section & Pay for your AP Exam
Step 1: Signup at  https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/050730                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                - Total Registration will provide the join codes that is required to join the AP class section at https://myap.collegboard.org<http://www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/050730>. Students will have the option to pay for the exam in full or place a deposit.
                - Financial assistance may be requested at the Total Registration website.

Step 2:  Join their AP Classes at https://myap.collegboard.org
               - As mandated by College Board, AP exams cannot be ordered for students that do not register on  https://myap.collegeboard.org even if they paid for the exam.

CAREERS: Seniors:  if you would like to learn about federal and state financial aid grants, loans and scholarships for college, the Sacramento California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP) is hosting a financial aid informational webinar for Yolo County students and their parents.  The webinar will be held over Zoom on Monday, October 5 from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm. The presentation will be recorded and available on-demand for later viewing. The Sacramento Area Council of Governments is offering its Youth Leadership Academy, where high school students will learn about local and regional government, network with local, state and national representatives, gain leadership and professional development experience and discover careers in the public sector.  The program is virtual this year.  Applications are due October 23 and can be accessed at:  https://www.sacog.org/pod/applications-now-open.
