THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1912 - China's boy emperor Hsuan T'ung announced that he was abdicating, ending the Manchu Ch'ing dynasty. Subsequently, the Republic of China was established.

Lunch: Happy Taco Tuesday! The ASC Café is now offering carnitas tacos in addition to chicken, ground beef and vegan tacos!
Reminder! Wednesday morning the ASC Café is open for breakfast from 7:45-8:53. Come join us for an early morning breakfast on Sleep In day!

Come to Culture Club! Where you can learn about different cultures and gain a different perspective of cultures around the globe. It will be happening in room P-23 at lunch every Tuesday. Hope to see you there!

ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
Any student wishing to take AP Art studio next year and has not completed the preliminary course, must submit a portfolio of their work to the Art Department by February 13. See Ms. Diem in A1 to get an informational form if you are interested.

Open House 2019! DHS will host it's Open House on Tuesday, February 19th, from 5-7 p.m. come visit with our teachers and counselors and learn about our courses and programs.


DHS Choral Auditions - Sign up to Audition for Jazz Choir, Madrigals & Advance Treble Choir: Do you want to join one of DHS' auditioned choirs next year? Jazz Choir, Madrigals and ATC will be holding their auditions on March 4-7.  All applicants MUST register by February 22, 2019 to audition. Forms can be found at http://bit.ly/DHSChoirAuditions or at the DHS Office, and more information about each program can be found at http://jazzchoir.net/, https://www.davismadrigals.com<https://www.davismadrigals.com/> and http://davishighatc.wixsite.com/atc. Parents of auditioning students are strongly encouraged to attend the pre-audition Parent Meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 4 pm in DHS room P-10 to hear about the audition process and the DHS auditioned choir experience.
CLUBS:
HUB is great to come to L-28! Don't hesitate, it's probably fate! For those interested in Graphic Art Photography, being a Business Manager, or a webmaster, pick up a HUB application in L-28 or in the office.

Feminism Club is collecting donations for Saint John's Program for Real Change - a Shelter for Women and Children. Help those in our community by bringing in socks, personal hygiene items, baby formula or other items to L-28 between 2/14 and 3/7. Follow @dhsfeminism Club on Instagram for the full list of items needed.

Do you want to make a lot of money with little effort? Of course you do! Come on down to Investment Club in L-22 every Friday at lunch to start making money now.

Hey, key Clubbers! Today's your last day to register. Registration will be held in front of S-12 during lunch. If you are returning member bring last semester completed hour sheet. If you are a new member interested in joining  bring $13.

CAREERS:
SENIORS: It's scholarship time! If you would like free money for college, then you should apply for scholarships! Nineteen local community scholarships are now being offered for seniors graduating from a Davis high school. You can find these local scholarships and many more in the Career Center's Scholarship Bulletin or on Naviance. Come to the Career Center to apply for scholarships!
If you plan to attend community college this fall, come to Sacramento City College's orientation event in the Career Center on Wednesday, February 13 at 10:40 am. Orientation is required for all new students and is where you will learn how to choose classes, find college resources, learn the types of degrees available and more. Come to the Career Center to sign up!
Students interested in pursuing a career as a veterinarian are invited to attend UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine's "Future Day" on Saturday, April 20 from 8:00 - 3:00. Future Day will focus on careers in veterinary medicine, offer hands-on activities and interactive labs, and will show students what being a veterinarian is all about. The event is free and includes a light breakfast and lunch. Come to the Career Center for a flyer.
The next Financial Literacy class is Friday, February 15 at lunch in the Career Center. Financial literacy classes are open to all students are a great way to learn money management skills!  Pizza will be provided. A representative from Yolo Federal Credit Union will discuss taxes and how to file a tax return if you have a job. Come to the Career Center this week to sign up!
Need a job?  Davis Youth Softball Association is looking for Youth Umpires for the spring softball season.  Pay is $25 per game, hours are flexible, and training, gear and uniform will be provided.  Deadline to apply is March 1.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
