Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment and noticing the thoughts and sensations that arise. Who should practice mindfulness? Everyone who would like to feel calmer, more connected, and generally happier. Mindfulness training will be held in room O-5  from 2:45 to 3:15pm. For more information, contact Ms. Tabor in O-5.

Davis High Girls Badminton tryouts will start at 3:45 in the North gym on Monday Feb. 12th. ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:

Enjoy a delicious dinner, singing and dancing at the 30th annual DHS Jazz Choir Cabaret - the choir's most elaborate production and largest celebration of the year. Dinner shows will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb 11 at Emerson Junior High. A final show-only performance will be held on Saturday, Feb 17 at Brunelle. Any student interested in taking AP Art Studio next year must submit a portfolio of work along with a cover letter to the Art Department by Wed February 14th.  See any art teacher for more information.

Register for the National Honor Society! We will be outside S-12 at lunch from January 22nd to February 2nd. Bring 5 dollars and a transcript from last semester. Active members should also bring an hour's sheet. We look forward to seen you there!

Love to Sing?  Davis High School Choral Audition: Come sing with the DHS auditioned choirs: the Madrigal Singers, Jazz Choir and Advanced Treble Choir. Audition Application due MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26th.  Audition dates are March 5-9th

CAREERS:
If you are interested in becoming a doctor, you should attend Phi Delta Epsilon's Pre-Medical Youth Conference on Saturday, April 14 on the UC Davis campus.  You will hear from physicians on what it takes to get into medical school, how to be a successful pre-med student, learn how to take blood pressure, witness and perform a suture procedure and more.  Admission and lunch are free!  Come to the Career Center for more information.

In-person sales are 2/19 to 3/1 @ lunch only at the Finance Office. If you are in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor immediately.
Are you interested in taking a gap year before starting college?  The DHS PTA is sponsoring a Gap Year Fair on Wednesday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Center.  Students will hear speakers discuss a wide variety of gap year opportunities, and meet with representatives to learn about the many different gap year programs available.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
JOB OPPORTUNITY:  Ink Monkey Graphics is hiring part time positions for 2-3 hours per day, 4-5 days a weeks to help with.  Pay is minimum wage and no experience is necessary.  Duties include production assistance, screen washing, and general cleanup.   Come to the Career Center for information on how to apply.
