Davis Senior High School Daily Bulletin

  *   Lunch: Spicy Double Teriyaki Burger w/ Pepper jack Cheese topped w/Slaw served with Cajun Fries / Grilled Vegetable Sandwich on WG Sourdough w/Garlic and Roasted Pepper Aioli.

Free Lunch Friday at the All Student Center! All Davis High students can receive a free lunch this Friday. Come in and try a lunch on us! We've got burgers and pizza, burritos and quesadillas and a whole lot more! Come in and let us buy your lunch this Friday at the new All Student Center!

EVENTS FOR TODAY:

English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting at 5:30pm in the Davis Senior High School Library. This meeting is for all DHS students who are learning English as their second or third language and their parents. Food will be provided and siblings are welcome. If you have, any questions please contact David Achimore (EL Specialist) or Kellie Sequeira (Vice-Principal) See you at 5:30pm!


Hey Davis FFA! Our April meeting is in room O-1. We will be watching Disney shorts. Officer applications are available this Thursday until next Thursday the 12th. Applications are due April 27th.

ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:

Seniors: Are you interested in giving a speech at the 2018 Graduation Ceremony?  Graduation speech applications are now available!  Please see Marlen Cabrera in the front office.  All applications are due by Friday, April 6, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. No late speeches will be accepted.



Please come watch your favorite dancers at So You Think You Can Dance this Saturday, April 7th at 7:00 pm in the Brunelle Theatre.  Contestants include Ace Gimenez, Hannah Huang, Helena Leslie, Maeve Kelly, Annie Cui, Sofia Martin, Angela Velasquez, Shay Thompson, the Advanced Treble Choir and more!  Tickets are $5 in advance from any ATC student or Mrs. Gardias.  See you there!


The District Office is now accepting applications for Summer Custodians for High School Students.  You must be available to work from June 11, 2018-August 24, 2018, 40 hours/week from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., hours differ based on sites assigned.  Applications are available at the District Office Front Desk, 526 B Street from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.


CLUBS:
DHS Red Cross Club will be holding its spring blood drive on Friday April 13th. You must be at least 16 years old and weight at least 110lbs. to donate blood. Sign-ups are in the quad all the way to the day before the drive 4/12. If you participate, you will get a free t-shirt and the opportunity to save lives.

Applications are now available for Open Mic Night. This is an opportunity to showcase your talents. Feel free to be creative with your performance but all are welcome poetry, comedy and signing. Apps. Are due April 20th in ASC.

This week, the Environmental Protection Agency is officially beginning to roll back Obama Era Car Fuel efficiency requirements. To learn more about the Trump administration's environmental policy changes & more, come to DHS Politics Club this Friday at lunch in N-2.



Hey CSF! If you are a Senior, don't forget to go to P-13 to initial beside your name. There are two lists that list the active lifetime members and lifetime members. You will not receive the appropriate recognition without an initial. The list will be taken down by April 12th. Also CSF members: If you are interested in being an officer next year? Stop by  P-13 for an application AND attend the CSF officer meeting this Friday, April 6 with your completed app.   Elections are Friday April 13. Hope to see you there!



Guys, gals, and nonbinary pals! Come to the GSA meeting this Friday at lunch in Mr. Moore's room, P-21, on the second floor near the elevator.



Best Buddies is having a spread the word to end the word week next week! Make sure to go to the quad to pledge to not use the R-word and to experience what it's like to have a disability.

CAREERS:
THIS FRIDAY APRIL 6 is the deadline to submit applications for many local scholarships! It's not too late to pick up local scholarship applications and fill them out.  Bring your completed applications to the Career Center this FRIDAY BY 4:00!
Sacramento City College has reserved additional Assessment Exam dates for high school students who still need to take the exam at the Davis Center.  Students must take the Assessment Exam before enrolling at Sacramento City College.  Come to the Career Center for the list of special exam dates.
Seniors of East Indian ethnicity can now apply for the India Association of Davis Scholarship.  Come to the Career Center for an application.
Sacramento City College will offer another orientation at DHS this Friday, April 6 at 10:15 am in the library west conference room.  Orientation is required for all new students and is where you will learn how to choose classes, find college resources, learn the types of degrees available and more.  Come to the Career Center to sign up!
If you are interested in learning about the United States Military Academy at West Point, the West Point admissions department will hold an informational session in Sacramento on Tuesday April 17 at 7:00 p.m. at American River College.  At the event, you will hear representatives discuss the West Point admission process.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
