THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1901-U.S. President William McKinley died of a gunshot wounds inflicted by an assassin. Vice President Theodore Roosevelt, at age 42, succeeded him.

DAILY MENU: Pepper jack Double Cheese Burger with Guacamole served/Cajun Fries. Grilled Turkey and Feta Sandwich w/ Garlic Aioli served with Cajun Fries. Grilled Vegetables Sandwich on WG Sourdough w/ Garlic Aioli.

TODAY: Don't forget DHS-Back to School Night is today. The program will begin in the North Gym @ 6:00 p.m.
Student Government will be grilling up hot dogs, burgers, and chicken and veggie patties in the Quad from 5:15 p.m. All
Parent and students are welcome.

ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
Support the Arts at DHS by joining the Brunelle Theater Student Usher Program. Earn volunteer hours, gain costumer service skills, and see performances for free. Students who ushered last year are encouraged to attend the advance training on Wed. Sept 20th at 2:45p, to become a House Manager, or simply fill out a Returning Usher Package from PA-10 in order to remain active. New Ushers- Stay turned for training dates at the beginning of October.

Spoke literary magazine is now accepting submissions for its December issue on fear and courage. Are you interested in saving a life? Your blood could help those in need after Hurricane Harvey. The 1st Blood Drive of the year is Tuesday, September 19 @ North Gym. You must be at least 110lbs and be at least 16 years old.

"Friendship Day will be held on Friday, September 15th. The start time is 8:15, not 7:45 as stated on the permission slip.
Please submit your permission slip to the front desk by Thursday, September 14th. We look forward to seen you on Friday! All aboard the Friendship Ship!"
Interested in going to Costa Rica during spring break? The trip will include a visit to the Rainforest Adventure Park, a local farm to learn why produce thrives in this environment, a kayaking trip on Lake Arenal and more. Hey CSF! Registration ends this Friday @ lunch. Pick up an application from the library, P-13, during lunch. Bring $5 dollars your application and report card. School Loop print outs are not accepted. Don't wait until last day!

Want to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey? The AVID Program is sponsoring a school supply & shirt drive starting Friday. Drop-off old, DHS shirts in good condition or school supplies such as binders, pens, pencils. In the boxes located in the front office.

Oh my God you guys! The Davis High Drama Department is looking for help with the fall musical: Legally Blonde! If you are interested in sound design, lighting design, stage crew, hair or make up, or just want to find out how to get involved, come to the Brunelle Theatre on Tuesday, September 19th at lunch to learn more! Can't make it? Pick up a handout in PA-10! Hope to see you there!

Attention Everyone! Picture Make-Up Day is September 26 @ the North Gym. If you purchase an ASB Card please make sure you take your receipt or need your student ID please don't miss the make-up date. If you need Lifetouch forms to order, please come to the front desk and ask for one.

"Calling all artist, designer and car fanatics. Interested in drawing a car for this year's Car Club t-shirt? Summit designs, either hand drawn or electronically, to Mr. Thayer in auto shop room O-3. First price is a free t-shirt with your design on it! The deadline is Friday, September 22nd.

DHS Politics Club will be meeting this Friday @ lunch in N-12. This week topic is foreign policy and US's role in the world, so come ready for a lively discussion and debate!
