THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1492 - Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer, sighted Watling Island in the Bahamas. He believed that he had found Asia while attempting to find a Western ocean route to India. The same day he claimed the land for Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain.

DAILY MENU: Pepper jack Double Cheese Burger with Guacamole serve with Cajun Fries. Grilled Turkey and Feta Sandwich w/Garlic Aioli serve with Cajun Fries. Grilled Vegetable Sandwich on WG Sourdough w/ Garlic Aioli.

Team HBV: Come to Team HBV's meeting @ lunch in room S-5 to hear about upcoming events and get fliers for our fundraiser at Teabo!

The DHS FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP is TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. in the theater!  Come to find out how you can get free money for college!  All seniors and their parents are invited to attend.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Your chance to be a member of the 2017-2018 DHS snowboard team is here! The sign up meeting is Tuesday, October 17 at 7pm at DHS room L-20. The team is open to any student from 9th to 12th grade. Team members will get a season pass that includes a Woodward Center pass. All skill levels are welcome. This is a great way to meet new people and have fun up on the slopes. Remember Blue Devils! Friday, we have Special schedule for Homecoming
Julius Achon, subject of the book The Boy Who Runs, will be speaking in Brunelle Theater at lunch on October 23rd.  He will also be speaking in the DSHS Library at 7 p.m. on October 23rd.  Achon was kidnapped by Joseph Kony's army when he was young.  He escaped and later fell in love with running.  He came to the US to run and attend university and later ran in the 2000 Olympics for his native country of Uganda.  Reminder: NO FOOD OR DRINK ARE ALLOWED IN BRUNELLE THEATER.

Seniors, Prestige Photography will be on campus on Friday, November 3rd, 2017 to take senior photos.
If you have not taken your senior photos please make sure to contact Marlen Cabrera, VP Secretary know right away via email mosoriocabrera at djusd.net<mailto:mosoriocabrera at djusd.net> or by phone (530)757-5400 Ext: 113. If you want to appear in the senior section of the yearbook, you must take your senior photo through Prestige. The cost is $20 if you wish to purchase proofs and select your yearbook photo, or free if you do not wish to purchase proofs.

The PSAT test is this Saturday, 10/14! Arrive to the Main Office/Admin Building by 7:45 a.m. for your room assignment. The test begins at 8am. No late entry! MUST BRING PHOTO ID and calculator.
CLUBS:
DHS BSU will be having meeting every Monday at lunch in room P-11. Come join us and learn more about cultural diversity.

Hey You! Oh, Yes! I am talking about you! Join UNICEF every other Thursday. The upcoming meeting is this Thursday, October 19. We have lots of fun events coming up such as attending a city council meeting and trick or treat for UNICEF!

Guys, gals, and non- binary pals! The GSA presents to you Movie Night on Friday, October 13. We will be showing the "Babadook" from 7-9pm in Mr. Moore's room, P-21 on the second floor near the elevator. NO PERMISSION SLIPS NEEDED!
