Attention Winter Sport ILS Athletes:  Come to your mandatory class meeting on Thursday, 11/16, 7th period block, in the small gym.  Please arrive on time.  For ILS students with a free 1st period, please come to your mandatory class meeting the following day, Friday, during 1st period in the small gym.

ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS:
Friday, November 17th, is the deadline for submitting information and articles for the December Davis High School PTA newsletter. Please send news, announcements, etc. to the DHS PTA Media Listserve at DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org<mailto:DHSPTAmedia at mailman.dcn.org>.Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number in case the newsletter editor has questions about your submission and also note that not every submission will be automatically included. Inclusion is at the discretion of our communications committee and is subject to timing, the appropriate venue(s), and frequency of the request(s).The newsletter is the ONLY communication tool that reaches ALL DHS families, whether they have internet access or not. The newsletter is generally published around the first of each month.  This is a great way to inform, notify or enlist parents' help for upcoming DHS school and student activities.

Spring Break in Costa Rica: Last day to sign up for the Costa Rica trip is November 15.  See Ms. Tessler in counseling for details.
Attention Senior Parents! Can you believe it is already time to start thinking about Grad Night? Grad Night tickets are now on sale. Every graduating senior in Davis (DaVinci, DSIS, King and DHS) is welcome to celebrate at this All-night, alcohol and drug free party on Friday, June 8th from 9:30 pm- 5:00am. Visit davisgradnight.org<http://davisgradnight.org>  to purchase tickets. Tickets are $75.00 until February 1st. So get your tickets before prices go up. Ticket includes all activities, food, and raffle entry.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment and noticing the thoughts and sensations that arise. Who should practice mindfulness? Everyone who would like to feel calmer, more connected, and generally happier. Mindfulness training will be held in room O-5 every Wednesday from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. For more information contact Ms. Tabor in O-5.


HEALTH: A friendly reminder from your School Nurse: Washing your hands is the best way to outsmart the pesky germs that love winter weather. Use soap & sing the ABC's for best handwashing practice.

CLUBS:
Come to National Art Honor Society this Wednesday at lunch in room A-1. NAHS is a natural recognized art club where you have the opportunity for scholarships.

Are you interested in Politics and Debate? If so, come to N-2 this Thursday for DHS Politics Club! See you there!

CAREER:
It's time to sign-up for this month's free Financial Literacy class to be held in the Career Center on Friday, November 17 at lunch from 12:00 - 12:42.  Pizza will be provided!  The DHS PTA, in partnership with the Yolo Federal Credit Union, is hosting this month's class titled "Money Management, Part 2".  The class will focus on budgeting and financial goals.  All students are welcome to attend. The class is limited to 30 students so come to the Career Center to sign up.

Would you like to learn how to attend college and be a successful college student?  If so, come to the Career Center on Wednesday November 15 after school at 2:40 pm to hear a Sacramento City College representative discuss what college is really like, how to choose a major, when and how to apply, paying for college and more!  Come to the Career Center for more information.
