Attention all past and present chemistry enthusiasts! Dates for the 2016 Chemistry Olympiad sponsored by the American Chemical Society have been announced. It will be given on March 19 at Sacramento City College, beginning at 9:00 am followed by a nitrogen ice cream party. See Mr. Van Muyden in Room S-9 if you are interested. The registration deadline is February 5th.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: Any student wishing to take AP Art Studio next year, must submit a portfolio of work to the Art Department by Wednesday, February 17. See Ms. Diem in A-1 for any questions.
DHS has a new online store: The Blue Devil Online Store! https://BlueDevilOnlineStore.myschoolcentral.com. When you first visit the site, you can create an account. A great feature of the Blue Devil Online Store is that parents can add their students to their accounts. When you create an account at the BlueDevilOnlineStore, your username will be the email address that you enter. Student specific items, like AP Tests, can only be purchased by/for students who are in the database. All students attending DSHS are in the data base. In addition, we have all other DJUSD student in grades 10-11-12 (such as DaVinci students) in the database. We currently have AP tests available for purchase - take a look! Applications are now available to seniors interested in giving a speech during the 2016 Graduation Ceremony. Please ask Ms. Carmen Schnathorst for a Graduation Speech Application. The application and typewritten speech are due April 1, 2016 by 4p.m. Finalists will be invited to a live audition the week of April 11, 2016. Speakers will be chosen and notified by April 22, 2016.
Attention AP Students: AP exams are available for purchase in the Webstore now! $97 per test. No refunds, so purchase carefully. Stay tuned for more information, including dates for in person sales in March.
If you are a junior boy or junior girl interested in government, come to the Career Center to apply for the American Legion Boys State and Girls State all-expense paid summer programs. Students will actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. Those who apply must be strong academically, have leadership skills and an interest in community and government. Deadline to apply is February 12. Applications are available in the Career Center.
