THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1997 - Don Cornelius, the creator and host of 'Soul Train,' received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Mr. Cornelius was instrumental in offering wider exposure to black musicians such as James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Michael Jackson, as well as creating opportunities for talented dancers, setting a precedent for popular television dance programs.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: AP tests can be purchased two ways: Tests are $97 each. DSHS WebStore: Tests are available for purchase at the DSHS WebStore now through March 13. You can pay SECURELY with your credit/debit card and receive instant email conformation of your payment. Find the link "Pay Online" at the DHS website, dhs.djusd.k12.ca.us. Go to the Department "AP Tests" for all the tests available to purchase. Please don't wait until the "last minute" to purchase- there may be delays resolving WebStore logon difficulties March 11 to 13. On campus sales, accepting cash and check payment, will take place from March 2 to March 6 during lunch only in the Finance Office. Contact Cheryl Ozga, cozga at djusd.net, if you have questions about WebStore or on-site sales. Contact tmchale at djusd.net, if you have questions about AP tests. If you are a student in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor immediately.

Applications are available for the Youth in Government program, an exciting opportunity for high school students to shadow local government officials in the City of Davis and Yolo County. Applications are in Room C-9 and are due on March 4th.
CLUBS/EVENTS: Come see the DHS Spring play 'The Liar.' "All the world's a stage and all the men and women are merely liars..." Opening night is March 6th at 7:00 p m with performances following on March 7th, 12th,13th and 14th at 7:00. There will be an additional performance on March 8th at 2:00 pm.
You are invited to join the Healthcare Careers Club and Teen Health Awareness Club in the Career Center on Tuesday, March 3 at lunch to hear Dr. Christopher Kim, Chief of Head and Neck Surgery at Kaiser, speak about interesting surgeries and careers in his field. Dr. Kim will also provide tips on how to avoid hearing loss when using Ipods and other tech devices. Snacks will be provided! See you in the Career Center Tuesday at lunch!
Cancer Awareness Club Fact of the Week: Each year, tobacco use is responsible for almost 6 million deaths. The Cancer Awareness Club would like to thank everyone who donated hats and scarves for chemotherapy patients!
