THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 1965 Civil rights activist Jimmie Lee Jackson died from wounds inflicted by state troopers during a freedom march in Marion, Alabama on February 18, 1965. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Mr. Jackson's funeral saying Mr. Jackson was "a martyred hero of a holy crusade for freedom and human dignity."

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS: AP tests can be purchased two ways: Tests are $97 each. DSHS WebStore: Tests are available for purchase at the DSHS WebStore now through March 13. You can pay SECURELY with your credit or debit card and receive instant email conformation of your payment. Find the link "Pay Online" at the DHS website, dhs.djusd.k12.ca.us. Go to the Department "AP Tests" for all the tests available to purchase. Please don't wait until the "last minute" to purchase- there may be delays resolving WebStore logon difficulties March 11 to 13. On campus sales, accepting cash and check payment, will take place from March 2 to March 6 during lunch only in the Finance Office. SENIORS: If you're planning to attend UCD, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, and you worked at a job during high school, you may qualify for the $13,921 Beeghly-Merritt Scholarship! The deadline to apply is April 3! Applications are now available in the Career Center.

Applications are available for the Youth in Government program, an exciting opportunity for high school students to shadow local government officials in the City of Davis and Yolo County. Applications are in Room C-9 and are due on March 4th.

Opening night is March 6th at 7:00 p m with performances following on March 7th, 12th,13th and 14th at 7:00. There will be an additional performance on March 8th at 2:00 pm.
