*Independent Lifetime Sports*:

If you are planning on earning your PE credits through your spring sport,
please plan to attend the mandatory information meeting on Wednesday,
February 18th at 2:30 in the small gym.  This meeting is for all athletes
who have made the final roster selection for their spring sport team and
will go over the course and hand out all assignments for the course.
Attendance for the entire meeting is mandatory in order to receive the info
and be enrolled in the course.  Please be on time.  The meeting should last
about 30 minutes.



*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS*:



This Friday, February 13th, Davis High will host the Marti Gras Masquerade
Ball! This dance is casual and will be in the new gym from 8pm to 10pm.
Admission is free. Remember - you must have a dance contract on file to
attend



AP students: *AP exams* are now on sale at the web store *only*. If you are
in need of financial assistance, please contact your counselor immediately.



*TODAY*:



The *Floral Design Class* will be selling rose bouquets in the quad for $4
each today. Roses will be delivered on Friday the 13th.  Don’t forget to
buy a rose for your Valentine!



*ACADEMICS/CAREERS/OPPORTUNITIES*:



Are you interested in learning about the United States Marines?  If so,
come to the Career Center at lunch on Friday, February 13 to meet with a U.
S. Marine representative.

If you are interested in attending Sacramento City College or American
River College next fall attend their free Saturday enrollment events.
Representatives at each school will guide you step by step through the
enrollment process.  It makes applying easy!  Space is limited, so sign up
soon!  Come to the Career Center for information on how to register for the
Saturday sessions.

It's College Tour time!  The City of Davis is planning its annual So-Cal
College Tour Trip for high school students.  Colleges on the tour are UC
Santa Cruz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara, University of
Southern California and UCLA.  The trip will take place the week of March
23-26.  Cost is $515 which includes transportation, college tours,
breakfast, dinner and hotels.  Come to the Career Center for more
information.

to the Quad tomorrow to get a cookie!



Any student wishing to take *AP Art Studio* next year must turn in their
art portfolio by next Wednesday, Feb 18th.  They can be turned in to any
art teacher.



*UC Davis* is hosting a *Financial Aid Awareness Week* February 18-20 on
the UC Davis campus. Financial aid professionals will be available to help
students and parents complete FAFSA or DREAM Act applications. Come to the
Career Center for more information.



*Juniors*: Would you like to participate in the Rotary Club’s all-expense
paid *Camp Royal Youth Leadership program* this summer?  This program is
held each June in the mountains of Northern California and is filled with
leadership-training events, information, ideas and strategies that will
help you become a more effective leader.  The deadline to apply is March 6th.
Come to the Career Center for more information and an application.



All entering *10th-12th* grade students are invited to audition for the *Davis
Madrigal Singers* for the 2015-2016 school year.  Auditions will be held
March 9th-12th in the DHS music rooms (PA3 and PA8).  There will be an
informational meeting on Wednesday, March 4 at 4:00 inPA8.  The meeting is
not mandatory but please come if you have questions about the ensembles or
the audition process.  Full information and forms for auditions can be

You must submit the online audition form by February 20th or print out the
paper form and mail it postmarked by February 20th, 2015.



*Juniors*!  The Rotary Club is sponsoring *Camp Venture*, an all-expenses
paid training and motivational summer camp for juniors interested in
pursuing a career in business, particularly as entrepreneurs.  The camp
will be held at CSU Maritime Academy in June.  Come to the Career Center
for more information and an application.



*CLUBS/EVENTS**:  *

*The Gay-Straight Alliance* will have a general meeting this Friday in L-28
th.  We will be planning for the Day of Silence in April.



Do you have a desire to wield unfettered power after the proceedings at the
school?  Do you want personal control over the vast DHS treasury?  Do you
want to learn how to make a decent poster?  Apply for *Student
Government; *applications
are due tomorrow, Friday, February 13th.



Key Clubbers! The  first general meeting of the spring term is next
Wednesday, February 18th  at lunch in room S-12.



*National Honors Society *registration is taking place for the next 2 weeks
in room S-12. Bring $5.00 and your school ID to register.



*CSF registration *for the spring semester starts next week, February 17th.
Bring $5.00, your report card and the pink CSF sheets to room P-13 to
register.
