THIS DAY IN HISTORY:  1930 - Ghandi began his 200-mile march to the sea that symbolized his defiance
of British rule over India.

March is Women's History Month!  On this day in Women's History in 1829, Sarah Dolley was born who
became a physician and a women's suffrage activist.

TODAY:  The final California Mathematics League Competition or "CAMeL," will be held in math
classrooms today at lunch.  Come to any math classroom from 12 to 12:30 for some interesting
problems and a chance for extra credit.

Blood Drive: If you are donating today please remember to drink plenty of fluids prior to donating and
bring your Photo ID and parent permission slip with you to your appointment.  Runners will deliver call
slips to your classroom.  The only students allowed to make appointments today must be 18 years old.

Come to the French Club today at lunch to participate in club activities and enjoy a fun atmosphere!

SENIORS:  Your senior class photo will be taken during 5th period on Thursday, March 20th.  Report to
the North Gym by 11:45 and make sure to leave your belongings in your classroom.

Attention graduating class of 2014!!! Have you ordered your cap, gown, and tassel?  It's not too late;
there is still time to place your order.  The Herff-Jones representative will be here on Tuesday, March 18

Excited to graduate?  Come get your Class of 2014 lanyard for only $5.00.  You can buy them on the way
to the Veteran's parking lot every Wednesday at lunch!

ACADEMICS/COLLEGE INFO:   The Acceptance List for AP Art Studio is posted in all Art Classrooms.
Congratulations!  Come pick up your portfolios.

Would you like to find out what careers you might be interested in based on your skills, interests and
values?  If so, you should take the ASVAB Career Exploration survey! The ASVAB will be offered this
Thursday, March 13 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm in the library west conference room.   Come to the Career
Center for more information.

COMING NEXT WEEK -- THE CAREER CENTER'S ANNUAL SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND SCHOLARSHIP FAIR!!!
If you're looking for something to do this summer, need a job, or need extra money for college, you
won't want to miss it.  The fair will feature job and scholarship applications, and information about
volunteering and summer activities.  The fair will take place outside the Career Center on Tuesday,
March 18 at lunch. See you there!

Upcoming Health Awareness Lectur:  Interested in a career in the medical profession or just want to
take good care of your skin and body?  On Wednesday, March 12th at lunchtime in the Career Center,
Dr. Eric Fromer will discuss "Unblemished Truths for Your Skin, Part 2;"  he is returning to DHS to give in-
depth information on skin care, acne and other common skin conditions in teenagers.  Dr. Fromer
practices dermatology at Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of
Dermatology at the UC Davis Medical Center.

Students interested in pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine are invited to attend  UC Davis' School
of Veterinary Medicine "Future Day" on Saturday, April 19 from 8:30-3:00.  Future Day is a free event for
students and will focus on Veterinary medicine and interactive labs.  The event is free and includes a
light breakfast, lunch and refreshments.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

Taking Journalism 1 paves the way to an exciting career.  Learn how to write articles, edit audio and
make videos as well as other important job skills.  Join Journalism today!

Are you interested in learning more about the United States Army?  If so, come to the Career Center on
Friday March 14 at lunch to speak to an Army representative.

CLUBS/EVENTS:  Attention FFA Members!  There's a meeting on Wednesday, March 12th at 6:00 pm in
Room O1A.  Come decorate St. Patrick's Day cookies, talk about FFA and have fun!

Hey Senior Boys!  It's time for Mr. Blue Devil!  If you want to compete for the title of Mr. Blue Devil, pick
up an application in C-4 and turn it in by Wednesday, March 12th!

The Gay-Straight Alliance will meet this Friday @ lunch in Mr. Wheeler's classroom, L-28.  Take action
against slurs, harassment and discrimination in your school.

The DHS Drama Department invites you to our Spring Production:  "Graffitied Walls."  Performances will
be held on March 13th, 14th, and 15th at 7:00 pm and March 16th at 2:00 pm, at the Richard Brunelle
Performance Hall on the DSHS Campus.  This is an original piece, written by our cast providing an
authentic look at the challenges of high school.  Tickets are $14 General Admission, $12 for Seniors 60
and over and $5 for students.  Groups rates available in advance at dshsdrama at gmail.com.  Questions?

language and suggested drug/alcohol use.  The DSHS Drama Department is offering free, on-site
babysitting with the purchase of General Admission tickets on March 13th, 14th and 15th!

The Davis Homeless Shelter Needs YOUR Help!  Throughout March, DHS is collecting items for the Davis
Homeless shelter.  ITEMS NEEDED:  SOAP  SHAMPOO  LOTION  CANNED FOOD  There is a drop off bin for
donations located inside the main office.   Check postings around school for more information.
