March is Women's History Month! Born this day in 1903 in NY, Clare Booth Luce who was a
Congresswoman, celebrated author and the first American woman appointed to a major ambassadorial
post abroad.
LUNCH CHOICES: Daily Options: Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Caesar Salad, Grilled Chipotle Turkey Panini,
Grilled Panini Sandwich with Pesto, Mozzarella and Tomato, Housemade Pizza. Manager's Choice:

TODAY: The National Honor Society is having a meeting today, Monday March 10th in S-012 at
lunchtime. We are discussing officer elections for upcoming juniors. Also, cords will be on sale for $8.00
if you are an active member. Come to the meeting for more information.
Sign-ups for the Blood Drive are due today for the Blood Drive tomorrow. Sign up at the nurse's office.
Donating blood takes approximately one hour and is safe and easy. You must be at least 16, weigh at
least 110 and be free from cold or flu symptoms for at least 48 hours. Walk-ins are accepted only if you
are 18 or older. For more information, see Ms. Youtsey, the school nurse.
SENIORS: Your senior class photo will be taken during 5th period on Thursday, March 20th. Report to
the North Gym by 11:45 and make sure to leave your belongings in your classroom.
Please return your Graduation Ceremony ticket request forms to the Front Desk as soon as possible.
They were due on Tuesday, February 25th. In order to properly plan for your graduation, it is required
that all graduates return their request form. Please see Mrs. Perez in the office with any questions or

Attention graduating class of 2014!!! Have you ordered your cap, gown, and tassel? It's not too late;
there is still time to place your order. The Herff-Jones representative will be here on Tuesday, March 18

Upcoming Health Awareness Lecture: Are you interested in a career in the medical profession or just
want to take good care of your skin and body? On Wednesday, March 12th at lunchtime in the Career
Center, Dr. Eric Fromer will discuss "Unblemished Truths for Your Skin, Part 2;" he is returning to DHS to
give in-depth information on skin care, acne and other common skin conditions in teenagers. Dr.
Fromer practices dermatology at Kaiser Vacaville Medical Center and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of
Dermatology at the UC Davis Medical Center.
The final California Mathematics League Competition or "CAMeL," will be held in math classrooms
tomorrow at lunch. Come to any math classroom from 12 to 12:30 for some interesting problems and a
chance for extra credit.
CLUBS/EVENTS: Attention FFA Members! There's a meeting on Wednesday, March 12th at 6:00 pm in
Room O1A. Come decorate St. Patrick's Day cookies, talk about FFA and have fun!
Hey Senior Boys! It's time for Mr. Blue Devil! If you want to compete for the title of Mr. Blue Devil, pick
up an application in C-4 and turn it in by Wednesday, March 12th!
The DHS Drama Department invites you to our Spring Production: "Graffitied Walls." Performances will
be held on March 13th, 14th, and 15th at 7:00 pm and March 16th at 2:00 pm, at the Richard Brunelle
Performance Hall on the DSHS Campus. This is an original piece, written by our cast providing an
authentic look at the challenges of high school. Tickets are $14 General Admission, $12 for Seniors 60

language and suggested drug/alcohol use. The DSHS Drama Department is offering free, on-site
babysitting with the purchase of General Admission tickets on March 13th, 14th and 15th!
Please post event and information posting on blue walls only. Please do not post items in the
restrooms. Thanks.
GRAD NIGHT: Seniors! Don't forget that ticket prices will go up if you wait until June to purchase your
ticket! Please go to davisgradnight.org and either purchase the ticket online or download the ticket form
and mail in with your check. Don't forget to send a kindergarten picture of yourself (with a stamped
envelope for return) for the "Kinder Wall." Scanned pictures of good quality are OK! Don't wait until
the ticket price goes up!
The Davis Homeless Shelter Needs YOUR Help! Throughout March, DHS is collecting items for the Davis
Homeless shelter. Do you have any Free-bee hotel shampoos lying around your house? Bring them to
the office to donate them!
ITEMS NEEDED: SOAP SHAMPOO LOTION CANNED FOOD There is a drop off bin for donations
located inside the main office. Check postings around school for more information.
