THIS DAY IN HISTORY:
In 2001, 4 airplanes bound for the West Coast were hijacked by terrorists. The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City and the west side of the Pentagon in Washington D.C. were immediate targets. Due to the heroic efforts of passengers on Flight 93, the 4th plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, leaving its intended destination unknown. To date, this is the deadliest terror attack on U.S. Soil and resulted in Operation Enduring Freedom.

Attention Independent Lifetime Sports students:  If you missed the informational meeting last Friday for ILS due to traveling with your team, please stop by the small gym after school today to see Ms. Crawford for your Course Information. Today is the FINAL day.

It's not too late to buy an ASB card for $65:  You can support ASB, receive free admission to regular season home athletic events and get discounts on dance tickets.  You'll also receive a free Blue Crew Shirt!  You can also purchase a 2014 Yearbook for $70 and subscribe to the HUB for $30. Come to the Finance Office during lunch to make your payments.

Are you interested in being a Walker Creek CABIN LEADER?  If so, cabin leaders are needed for Patwin and Pioneer Elementary schools.  Please come to the Career Center for an application.

Did you know that DHS has a car club? Car club is for people who love all things car related. The first car club meeting will be tomorrow, September 12th at lunch in the auto shop classroom O-3. We will meet to plan for the homecoming parade and begin thinking about cool field trips and the DHS Devil Day Car Show. See ya there!

UC Davis is hosting its annual Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Professions National Conference on October 12-13 at the UC Davis campus.  The conference will help students learn about medical schools, public health programs, and meet admissions representatives and medical professionals.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

CSF Registration will be beginning next week, September 16 through September 27. Please remember to bring $5, last semester's grades and a complete pink form. Returning members should also turn in their green hour sheets.



Grad Night 2014 Tickets will be available for sale at Back to School Night on Sept. 18th.  Ticket representatives will be in the Quad, so please look for us there and get your tickets early.  The price is $75 now through the end of the year, and will be $90 on January 1st.



Tired of the hot summer weather?  Dreaming of flying down the cool snowy mountainside?  Then find out more about the DHS Snowboard Team.  An informational meeting will be held on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 16 at 7pm in the Davis High School library.  The team is open to all students in the 9th through 12th grades.  Meet the coaches, find out about the Team, get the information that you need to join this year!  Stop dreaming - start doing - come join the DHS Snowboard Team.

School pictures are in, please come to the Career Center during your lunch to pick up your packets.

College visits begin in the Career Center this week!  Come to the Career Center or go on Naviance for the date and time of each college visit.  You must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit, and check in with your teacher before leaving class to attend a visit.  If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:  Davis Media Access is offering a four-month, non-paid internship where students can gain hands-on experience and exposure to many aspects of community television production.  Interns must be at least 16 years old and able to work 3-6 hours per week.  The deadline to apply is this Friday, September 13.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The Guitar Club meets tomorrow, September 12th at 12:15 in room P-22. Bring your guitar and let's jam!

Hey DHS! If you received an invitation to this year's first Friendship Day, don't forget to turn in your permission slip to the Front Office! The deadline is tomorrow, September 12th, so don't wait. Turn in your forms and we'll see you at Friendship Day!
