THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

In 1776, upon General George Washington's requests for a volunteer for a dangerous mission, Captain Nathan Hale of the 19th Regiment of the Continental Army stepped forward and subsequently became one of the first known American spies of the Revolutionary War.

Attention all MAST tutors: there will be a mandatory meeting today, September 10th in S-9 to start off the year and assign schedules. If you plan to be a tutor this year then please make sure attend.

Come by N-2 today, September 10th for French Club. The club celebrates culture through food and cultural activities. No knowledge of French is required to join, so stop by this Tuesday to hear about up-coming officer elections and to get some food!

Did you know that DHS has a car club? Car club is for people who love all things car related. The first car club meeting will be this Thursday September 12th at lunch in the auto shop classroom O-3. We will meet to plan for the homecoming parade and begin thinking about cool field trips and the DHS Devil Day Car Show. See ya there!

Attention Students in Agriculture classes: First FFA meeting of the year is Wednesday, September 11 at 6pm in O-1A. Join us for games and hot dogs.

Join Key Club this Wednesday, September 11 in room S-12 to hear about this fun, international, community service club. Tasty snacks will be provided.

ONGOING/UPCOMING:
College visits begin in the Career Center this week!  Come to the Career Center or go on Naviance for the date and time of each college visit.  You must sign up on Naviance prior to attending a college visit, and check in with your teacher before leaving class to attend a visit.  If you need help with your Naviance account, come to the Career Center.

Attention Independent Lifetime Sports students:  If you missed the informational meeting last Friday for ILS due to traveling with your team, please stop by the small gym during 7th period to see Ms. Crawford for your Course Information packet, on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of this week.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:  Davis Media Access is offering a four-month, non-paid internship where students can gain hands-on experience and exposure to many aspects of community television production.  Interns must be at least 16 years old and able to work 3-6 hours per week.  The deadline to apply is September 13.  Come to the Career Center for more information.

The Guitar Club meets Thursday, September 12th at 12:15 in room P-22. Bring your guitar and let's jam!

Hey DHS! If you received an invitation to this year's first Friendship Day, don't forget to turn in your permission slip to the Front Office! The deadline is Thursday, September 12th, so don't wait. Turn in your forms and we'll see you at Friendship Day!
