THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

In 1927, Gutzon Borglum began sculpting the images of four of America's most revered and beloved Presidents in granite, a task that would take 12 years to complete. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt would become the face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills National Forest of South Dakota.

Do you like music from around the World? Do you enjoy discovering new artists and songs that aren't in the top 40? If so, come to the World Music Club Fridays in Mr. Oster's room (P-22). We listen to everything from KPOP to Malian Soul Music and your input is welcome. We have cookies!



JUNIORS seeking a cultural experience abroad are invited to attend a lunchtime meeting today in room O6.  Global Glimpse Ambassadors will share their experience in Nicaragua where they learned about the cultural, political environment, and returned as global citizens.



Looking for some hard-hitting action tonight? Come support DHS Field Hockey at the 2nd Annual "Stick It 2 Cancer" game vs Chico. Game times are 5:30-JV & 7:00-Varsity. All proceeds will be donated to cancer research. This will also be the program's first-ever Break the Record Night!  Let's show the Chico Panthers that Davis is Field Hockey Country!



JUNIORS: TODAY is the last day for priority PSAT sign-ups online through the webstore. Cost is $24.00. Student Bulletins are available anytime, with receipt, from the Testing Coordinator.



ONGOING/UPCOMING:

Please come to the German Club on Monday, 10/7 at 12 noon. We are planning activities for Homecoming, 10/11 the International on 10/12. All are welcome to join!



Would you like to participate in a cultural exchange and spend 4 weeks in Germany in the Summer of 2014? No previous knowledge of German is required. Please come to Mrs. Floyd's room, N-2 on Monday 10/7 at 7:30pm. Bring your parents, please!



The DHS Teen Health Awareness Club and DHS Healthcare Careers Club invite you to the first lecture in their upcoming healthcare lecture series for the 2013-14 school year. On Tuesday OCT 8th at lunchtime in S5, Dr. Katherine Eastham, Assistant Chief of Pediatrics at Kaiser Davis, will discuss "Which food groups do my Frappuccinos, Hot Cheetos, and Twinkies fit into?" Come hear her speak about healthy eating, exercise, and her career as a pediatrician. Snacks will be provided!  All students and staff are welcome to attend.



Attention Architecture & Engineering fanatics! Meeting in the Career Center, Tuesday at lunch. Be there or be a cube!



The City of Davis is offering their annual fall tour of northern California universities!   The next tour is Stanford University on Saturday, October 12.  Additional tours are scheduled for Chico State and San Francisco State.  Trips are $67 and include transportation, college tour, and lunch.
