-1883 - Susan Hayhurst graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. She was the first woman pharmacy graduate.

TODAY

-For Lunch today we have Chicken Curry over local rice, Chicken Eggroll with fried rice, Potato Bar with steamed veggies, taco meat, cheese, kidney beans, Fish and Chips and the Soup is Clam Chowder with oyster crackers.



-Attention all Math and Science tutors!  We will be holding a meeting today, Friday, March 16 in the Chem room at lunch regarding officer elections.



-CSF'ers!  There is a general CSF meeting today, Friday, March 16 during lunch in Ms. O'Brien's room, P-13.  Information about upcoming officer elections will be announced.  See you then!



-There will be a Red Cross meeting today at lunch in S-1 regarding the Spring Blood Drive.  If you are interested in helping with the blood drive, please be there!



-If you are a Junior boy interested in government, you should apply for the Boys State all-expense paid summer camp, where you learn about the structure and workings of our government!  The event will be held on the CSU campus from June 16-23.  Those who apply must be strong academically, have leadership skills, and have an interest in community and government.  Come to the Career Center by today, March 16 to apply!



-Hey Batter, Batter, Batter!  Swing your way out to Raley Field tonight, Friday, March 16th and watch your DHS baseball team take on our rivals, Jesuit!  This is the baseball team's biggest game of the year!  Game starts at 6:30, weather permitting!



-Track!  Volleyball!  What do these sports have in common?  They both have games today, Friday, March 16!  Start the fun off at 3:30 with the "Battle for the Spade" as Track battles Woodland.  Guys Volleyball vs. Pleasant Valley at 5:00!  Come out for a fun-filled Friday!



-Come see the DHS Drama Department's hilarious production of "Tartuffe" and experience the '60s!  Performances are tonight, Friday and Saturday, March 17th at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 for students.
-Da Vinci's and Davis High Robotics team, FIRST Team 1678, more commonly known as Citrus Circuits, is going to their first regional at the UC Davis ARC Pavilion. The competition is today, Friday, 3/16 from 9AM-6:45PM and Saturday, March 17 from 9AM - 5:30PM, and they would love it if you could come out and support them!

-Come to the Davis UNICEF Club on Monday, March 19th in L-23.  We are gearing up for our next project!



-If you are heading for a career as an entrepreneur, here's a chance to learn the basic business skills that look great on a resume!  The HUB is looking for a business manager who can run our small, student-run business operations.  Training is provided!  Pick up an application in the front office out outside L-20.  Resumes are due on Wednesday, March 21.

-Hey DHS, want to decorate your home with spring wreaths?   Come on down to the Farmers Market this Saturday morning, March 17 to see what Davis FFA students have made out of eggs and grape vines.   At this booth you'll get to see what kinds of thing Ag Classes at DHS offer as well as be able to get your very own wreath making kit. It's egg-tastic!



-Attention All Thespians!  ACME Theatre Company is holding auditions for their spring show, 'The Compleat Works of William Shakespeare' [abridged].  The auditions will be held on Sunday, March 18 from 1:00 to 6:00 pm and Monday, March 19 from 3:45 to 6:00 pm with callbacks on Thursday, March 22 at the Davis Art Center outdoor stage. -Enjoy orchestral music?  Come to the 16th Annual Wennberg Music Festival at the Mondavi Center at UC Davis, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 3:00 pm and listen to our award-winning DHS musicians along with other Davis student musicians!  The Davis High School Baroque Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and School Symphony Orchestra will be performing.  Tickets are available for purchase online at http://www.mondaviarts.org or can be purchased at the Mondavi Center on March 31.





-Reminder: Friday March 23 will be the last day to enter course selections for 2012-2013 school year in Zangle!



-SENIORS: It's scholarship time!  If you would like free money for college, then you should apply for scholarships!  Twenty-one local scholarships for Davis Sr. High h School students are currently being offered by the Davis community.   Come to the Career Center in N-17 for more information about these and other available scholarships!


-HEY SENIORS!  It is time to make your reservation for Grad Night!    Grad Night is Friday, June 8 from 9:30 to 5:00 am at Emerson Junior High.   No one will be admitted after midnight! Tickets are $90 and the check should be made payable to "Davis Grad Night."  Fill out the quick form on the website www.davisgradnight.com<http://www.davisgradnight.com>.   An email confirmation will be sent; no tickets will be issued.  Senior's name will be on a paid list at Grad Night check-in.  Seniors must be eligible to walk in their graduation ceremony to attend and must present an ID to enter Grad Night.  You can mail or scan in your kindergarten photo for the Grad Night Kindergarten Wall.  You can also mail your reservation.
