THIS DAY IN HISTORY
2002 - The exhibit "In the Spirit of Martin: The Living Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." opened at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. More than 100 artists supplied the collection of 120 works of art.

-For Lunch: Today we have Chicken Curry Sandwich, Chicken Eggroll with fried rice, Potato Bar with steamed veggies, taco meat, cheese, kidney beans and the soup is Clam Chowder with Oyster crackers.

-Come join our post-winter break car club meeting today Friday, January 13, at lunch in the auto shop. We will be revising our t-shirt design and getting a head count on the number of shirts we need to order.
-Seniors! Need money for college? Come to the DHS Financial Aid Workshop on Thursday, January 19 at 7:00 pm in the IPAB. The workshop will teach you how to apply for federal and state financial aid for college. All seniors and their parents are invited. Come to the Career Center N-17 for more information.
-Volunteer Opportunity Available! Explorit is hosting a science event at Korematsu Elementary School on January 18 from 5:30 to 7:45 pm. High school students are needed to help with child activity stations. Take a break from finals to have some fun with the kids! Please come to the Career Center N-17 for more information.
-Interested in learning about the United States Army? If so, come to the Career Center N-17 on Wednesday January 18 at lunch to meet with an Army representative.

-Attention Juniors and Seniors! The Bank of America is now accepting applications for its Student Leaders Program. If you are interested in improving your community, you can participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit and attend a week-long Student Leadership Summit in Washington, DC! Come to the Career Center in N-17. The deadline to apply is January 25!
-The City of Davis has five summer job openings in the aquatics department. The available jobs are lifeguard, pool cashier, snack bar attendant and more. Please come to the Career Center for more information and a flyer about each job.
-Hey Artists! If you wish to apply to the AP Art Studio classes for next year, you must submit your portfolio to any art teacher by Friday, February 17th. Information about this may be obtained through any art teacher.
-The California State Summer School for the Arts is accepting applications from talented artists, writers and performers for its 4 week summer program July 14-August 10 at the California Institute of the Arts. Deadline to apply is February 28. Come to the Career Center for more information and an application.
- If you ordered Prom Pictures, please pick them up at the Front Desk with your student ID.
-Finals are next week! On sale in the Quad today Friday are Finals Care Packages. The package includes fun pencils and eraser, Smarties Candies , joke cards and other fun items. Brighten your Finals week or cheer a friend! Get your Fun Finals Care Package Today!
-SENIORS- Come by the Front Desk to check the spelling of your name on the diploma order list. You will have until January 31, 2012 to make adjustments, if needed.
-Attention, Blue Devils! Do you ever have problems you want advice on but don't know who to ask? Ask a DHS Peer Helper! Just fill out a slip of paper with your question and put in any Advice Column box located in the library and office. Then go to the Advice Column website URL listed on the side of the Advice box to check for your answer! Everything is completely anonymous so please feel free to ask for help!
-Computers are available for student use in the Career Center in N-17 to research colleges, apply for scholarships and jobs, explore college and career opportunities on the internet.
-Love theatre? ACME Theatre Company invites all students to attend the production of "Cyrano" adapted by Barry Kornhauser. This play is full of bakers, swordfights, romance and poetry. The show runs through Sunday, January 15. Student tickets are $8.00. For more information, please visit acmetheatre.net or simply check out one of the posters up around school.
