ATHLETICS
-Attention Varsity Football players!  There is a Team meeting at lunch today in the Football Team Room.  All players are expected to attend.

-Interested in joining the DHS Track and Field Team?  Hardworking student athletes for pole vaulting, jumping, throwing, hurdling, sprinting and distance running are wanted.  Please report to a mandatory informational meeting for parents tonight, Thursday, January 12 at 6:00 pm in the DHS Library.  We will discuss rules, expectations, answer questions and distribute paperwork.  Conditioning will take place Monday through Thursday at 4:00 on the DHS track. -For Lunch: Today we have Sweet and Sour Pork Meatballs over local rice, Buffalo Chicken Tender over local rice, Taco Bar: Bean and Cheese Chalupa, Taco meat, nacho cheese and salsa.  The soup is Minestrone with wheat dinner roll.


NEW
-Attention Juniors and Seniors!  The Bank of America is now accepting applications for its Student Leaders Program.  If you are interested in improving your community, you can participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit and attend a week-long Student Leadership Summit in Washington, DC!  Come to the Career Center in N-17.  The deadline to apply is January 25!

-The City of Davis has five summer job openings in the aquatics department.  The available jobs are lifeguard, pool cashier, snack bar attendant and more.  Please come to the Career Center for more information and a flyer about each job.

-Hey Artists! If you wish to apply to the AP Art Studio classes for next year, you must submit your portfolio to any art teacher by Friday, February 17th.  Information about this may be obtained through any art teacher.

-The California State Summer School for the Arts is accepting applications from talented artists, writers and performers for its 4 week summer program July 14-August 10 at the California Institute of the Arts.  Deadline to apply is February 28.  Come to the Career Center for more information and an application.

-Attention Juniors! If you ordered Prom Pictures, please pick them up at the Front Desk with your student ID.

-Finals are next week!  On sale in the Quad through Friday are Finals Care Packages.  The package includes fun pencils and eraser, Smarties Candies, joke cards and other fun items.  Brighten your Finals week or cheer a friend!  Get your Fun Finals Care Package Today!

-Attention all Mu Alpha Theta members!  There is a general meeting  today Thursday, January 12 in Mr. Ronning's room

-SENIORS- Come by the Front Desk to check the spelling of your name on the diploma order list.  You will have until January 31, 2012 to make adjustments, if needed.
-Attention Speech and Debate Team members! There is a meeting today after school in P-23.  If you plan to participate in the state tournament, you must have your script ready.  Hope to see you there!
-Attention, Blue Devils!  Do you ever have problems you want advice on but don't know who to ask?  Ask a DHS Peer Helper!  Just fill out a slip of paper with your question and put in any Advice Column box located in the library and office.  Then go to the Advice Column website URL listed on the side of the Advice box to check for your answer!  Everything is completely anonymous so please feel free to ask for help!

-Need help with Naviance?  Come to the Career Center for help accessing your Naviance account.  Naviance is an easy-to-use web resource with a wealth of information for college and career planning!

-Computers are available for student use in the Career Center in N-17 to research colleges, apply for scholarships and jobs, explore college and career opportunities on the internet.

-Love theatre?  ACME Theatre Company invites all students to attend the production of "Cyrano" adapted by Barry Kornhauser.  This play is full of bakers, swordfights, romance and poetry.   The show runs through Sunday, January 15.  Student tickets are $8.00.  For more information, please visit acmetheatre.net or simply check out one of the posters up around school.
