THIS DAY IN HISTORY
-1913: Two years after it was stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris, Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece The Mona Lisa is recovered inside Italian waiter Vincenzo Peruggia's hotel room in Florence. Peruggia had previously worked at the Louvre and had participated in the heist with a group of accomplices dressed as Louvre janitors.

-For Lunch: Teriyaki Chicken with veggies and rice; Sweet & Sour meatballs with rice; Baked Chicken with corn on the cob.

-Attention National Honor Society members! The last meeting before winter break will be Monday, December 12 in room S-12 at lunch. Remember the semester is almost over, so come and get information on how you can complete your service hours. See you there!

-Join us today at the Korean Club as we finish our movie. You don't want to miss out!

-Davis Dole French Exchange student/parent info meeting: Monday, December 12 at 7:30pm in room 0-4. The meeting will include a slideshow, former exchange student testimonial and Q & A session for the Davis Dole Exchange Program. Applications will be available.


NEW
-On Thursday, December 15 there will be another meeting for parents and students interested in the German-American exchange scheduled for 2012. Please come to room N-15 at 7:30pm.

-Attn: Seniors: Make-up day ordering of Caps/Gowns/Tassels, Graduation Announcements & Class Rings is Thursday, December 15 from 2:15 to 3:30 pm in the quad. Ordering packets are available in the office.

-Class Rings: DHS Class Rings ordered earlier this year will be available for pick-up on Thursday, December 15 from 2:15 to 3:30 pm in the quad. New orders require a $50.00 deposit. Packets are available in the office.

-"Winter Rhapsody" band concert- December 15 at 7:30pm in the Richard Brunelle Performance Theatre on the DHS campus. This concert features the Davis High Concert Band (Mr. Clyde Quick, conductor) and the Davis High Symphonic Band (Mr. Fred Lange, conductor). A donation of $6-students/seniors, $8-General and $20-families will be asked.

-Reminder! There is a Student Forum meeting on Wednesday, December 14 at lunch in room L-22. It's a regular meeting so all 55 representatives must attend. See you there!

-Want to turn your trash into something useful? The Environmental Club is collecting clean, dry plastic bags, wrappers and saran wrap to build a bench. Look for flyers around school for more info and deposit your plastic bags and wrappers in the special bins in the science quad and main quad.

-RECYCLE REMINDER: The Green Recycle Bins are for Paper and Plastic ONLY! Cardboard Recycle is located in the Dumpster Area!

-PSAT results will be available for pick up during LUNCH only in the large conference room in the DHS Administration Building on Monday and Tuesday December 12th and 13th. Please bring Photo ID.

-DHS Winter Choral Concert- Tuesday December 13th at 7pm at the Richard Brunelle Performance Theatre on the DHS campus. The Advanced Treble Choir, Concert Choir, Jazz Choir and Madrigal Singers will present an array of holiday selections for all to enjoy. The concert is free and open to the public.

-CAML test #3 will be held on Tuesday, December 13 at the beginning of lunch in any math classroom. We are currently in 12th place of the 108 participating schools in California participating in the competition and we are only 1 point out of being in first place! Ask your math teacher about extra credit opportunities for taking the test.

-Diablo's Sweet Shop is selling peppermint bark in the quad at lunch starting Today through Thursday December 15th. One bag is $1.50 and two bags are $2.50. Orders will be placed during the week and delivered during 4th period on Friday the 16th. All money goes towards DHS's ROP Food Service Class!

- Key Club- Come to the Key Club meeting next Wednesday Dec 14th at lunch in S-12! We will be discussing information regarding D-Con, the largest and most fun Key Club of the year!

-CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive- Make a Child Happy this season! Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the DHS Front office Toy Drive Barrel today thru December 16. Toys will be delivered to the children just before the holidays.
-REMINDER: Battle of the Bands is this Friday, December 9 from 8-10pm in the DHS Performing Arts Theatre. Tickets are $6 at the door.

-Holiday Grams- Spread some holiday cheer! Holiday Grams are available with Christmas, Hanukah and non-denominational messages. A standard gram costs $2.50 and includes a mini candy cane. A deluxe gram with fuzzy toe socks costs $5.00or buy FIVE deluxe grams for $20.00. Grams will be sold this week on the quad by the Drama Department members and hand delivered by Santa and the elves.

-Hey you! Looking for something to do next week after school? How about coming to the Black Student Union movie night on December 15 @ 2:50pm in room P-23! Admission is $2.00 but once inside, the food is free! Hope to see you there!

-Don't miss your chance to be part of Davis High Idol 2012! Students in grades 10-12 at any DJUSD school are eligible to compete in this wildly popular event hosted by the Advanced Treble Choir. Semi-finals are January 20 & 21; exciting finals are on January 28. Get an application NOW in room PA-08. Applications will be accepted beginning Friday, December 9 at noon. More information: www.dhstreblechoir.org Start listening for that perfect song!

-Want a free breakfast from Noah's Bagels? Bring a pair of gently used shoes to room L-21 on Wednesday, December 14 at 8:00am for the Freedom from Hunger Club STEAC shoe drive. Each person who brings a pair of shoes will be given a Noah's breakfast.
