THIS DAY IN HISTORY
- Monroe Doctrine 1823 - On this day in 1823, President James Monroe delivers his annual message to Congress and calls for a bold new approach to American foreign policy that eventually became known as the "Monroe Doctrine." Monroe told Congress, and the world's empires, that "the American continents are henceforth not to be considered as subjects for further colonization by any European powers." This policy was invoked and adapted by subsequent presidents to advance American economic and political interests in the Western Hemisphere.
ATHLETICS -
-DHS Boys Lacrosse Equipment Swap- Buy, Sell, Swap, or Donate, Saturday December 3, 2011 10:00am - 1:00pm

-DHS Track & Field -All 9th-12th graders are welcome. We will meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, at 3:50pm at the track. Warm-up begins at 4pm. We will be done between 5-5:30pm. Please contact Coach Elliott for more information at www.dhstrack.com<http://www.dhstrack.com>
TODAY
-For Lunch: Today we are having Rice Bowls with a choice of BBQ Beef, Mandarin Chicken, or Honey Fire Chicken (made from local, organic rice). Also Curry Veggies with Chick Peas and Naan Bread.
-Blood Drive-The Blood Drive is being held today. Please remember to bring your student ID card, your parent consent form (16 & 17 yr. olds), and eat a good meal and drink plenty of water before and after giving blood. Passes will be delivered to your classroom with the time you signed up for. Please report to the Adult education office near the Oak Street parking lot.
-Hey Blue Devils Club Members! There is No meeting today, but you can pick up your shirts during lunch in room N-10.
-CSF Members - Please come to the meeting today. We've adopted two STEAC families and we need your support.
We also have many December Projects available.
-The Marine Jazz/concert band will be playing in the South Gym at lunch today. Bring your food and sit in the gym to hear some great musicians.
- Davis High Idol 2012! Contestant's applications will be available today and are open to students in grades 10-12 at any DJUSD school. Completed applications will be accepted starting at noon on Friday, December 9th. Start listening for that perfect song, and look for more information at www.dhstreblechoir.org<http://www.dhstreblechoir.org> and also in room PA-8.

-The Davis-Dole French Exchange is back! Reminder: Please complete your student applications by Monday,
December 5, or ASAP and return them to either Mr. Curley or Mrs. Floyd. We will be visiting PARIS and Dole next summer! Current students in French 3 or higher are to apply.
-AP- ART STUDIO- Any students interested in taking AP- ART STUDIO next year should attend the informational meeting at Lunch on Friday, Dec 9th in room A-1. You MUST apply to get into AP- ART STUDIO!
-Car club meeting in the auto shop classroom this Tuesday at lunch! Hope to see you there.
-UNICEF - Come to the Davis UNICEF club meeting on Monday Dec. 5 in room L-23. We will be discussing a new project and there will be food. Together we can change the world!
-Davis High School is holding its first Mini-College Fair! Colleges from across the country will be on the quad at lunch on Tuesday, December 6 to provide information and answer questions about their college. Come to the quad at lunch on Tuesday to find out more about colleges you may be interested in!

-Did you know that hundreds of children are captured and forced to become child-soldiers each year? If you would like to help stop this, come to the Invisible Children's Club in room L-28, above the gym. There will be food!
-CHiPS for Kids Toy Drive- Make a Child Happy this season! Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the DHS Front office Toy Drive Barrel today thru December 16th. Toys will be delivered to the children just before the holidays.
-Reminder: Bulletins and Posters should only be placed on the designated BLUE WALLS around campus or they will be removed!

-Junior Prom is Dec 10th. You can pick-up dance contracts in Room C-4. Guests are required to fill out a guest pass.
-The four bands for the City of Davis' Annual Battle of the Bands have been chosen! Don't miss out to see the competition Dec.9th at 8pm in the Brunelle Performing Arts Theatre on campus. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
-Seniors: Show all your fellow classmates how cute you were as a kindergartner! Bring in a wallet sized (2x3) photo for the Kindergarten Wall at Grad Night. Drop box is located at the DHS Front Desk.
- If you would like to have your club or group photo featured in the Yearbook, you must fill out a form. Go to dhsyearbook.wordpress.com to download the form. For more information, come to room A-7 during 5th period or to room C-3 to see Mrs. Thomsen.
