ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: Hudson Motor Incorporated. The Hudson Motor Car Company, founded by Joseph Hudson, in Detroit, Michigan, was incorporated on this day. Hudson is perhaps most famous for its impact on NASCAR racing, which it accomplished thanks to a revolutionary design innovation.

* Attention Senior Families: Now is the time to buy your Graduate's reservation for Grad Night 2010 on June 11. Go to www.davisgradnight.org <http://www.davisgradnight.org> to make your reservations. Advance sale only $90 or $110 at the door.
* Interested in traveling to Nicaragua this summer? Please join Courtenay Tessler on Thursday during lunchtime in the large conference room. Scholarships are available for low-income students. Learn more about the Global Glimpse program.
* Attention all 9th grade musicians: Davis High School Orchestra Program will conduct two auditions for 2010-2011. The first audition group is "DHS Symphony Orchestra", which is an advanced level full symphony orchestra open to string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. The second audition orchestra is the "DHS Baroque Ensemble" open to violin, viola, cello, bass and keyboard players who are interested in learning to play the Harpsichord. Auditions will be held in the IPAB, Room PA-3 starting March 18-26. * FFA fun Fact # 89: Did you know that country singer George Straight majored in Agriculture Education in college? Come to the quad at lunch TODAY to flip tires! Bring a friend or two to compete to see who can flip a tire faster! Don't forget to put coins into your teacher's jar for the teacher they want to kiss the pig on Friday! See you at lunch!
* According to a monitoring group, there are 926 active hate groups in the United States, 84 in California alone. To get a sneak peak of the upcoming drama department's show God's County, tune into Student Voices TONIGHT, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on 95.7. Listen to interviews with cast members about the tragedy of hate and prejudice in our society.
* Attention Key Clubbers - don't forget we have elections TODAY at lunch! We'll also be discussing district convention on Friday the 26th in S-12 after school. So if you're interested, please come!
* Listen up DHS students. RSJ is having its annual research projects and we need your help. Please come answer surveys during lunch TODAY in class P-14. Surveys will be set up outside, and any devil that helps will receive a treat! All are welcome to come. We hope to see all Blue Devils there.
* Peer Helping and Gay Straight Alliance are holding a combined film festival! Come watch The Times of Harvey Milk, a film that catalogues the extraordinary life story of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California. It's showing TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. in Mr. Bundy's room P-21. There will be free food and great discussion, so don't miss out!
* Cafeteria-Special of the Day - Moroccan style pork with couscous.

* CSF registration is at lunch daily in P-13. Bring your report card, the application, and $5. Last day to register is this Friday, February 26. Applications are at the front counter, the library, P-13, and P-20.
* For an inside look at local government, be sure to pick up a Youth in Government application from the front office, and turn it back in to the office by Tuesday, March 2. What would you do if you were in charge for a day?
* Our Freestyle Wrestling Season will begin March 3rd and we encourage ALL students, male or female who have an interest in wrestling, as well as all wrestlers, to attend. It's a great opportunity to learn and practice wrestling, keep in shape, and compete if you desire. Let's help build the DHS WRESTLING team of the future! All skill levels welcome... newcomers, experienced wrestlers, and anywhere in-between! Contact Coach Brown by email tyjzori03 at yahoo.com; or find him busy about the campus most days. Fliers with all the details are in the main office.
* Everyday this week will be a different event; all leading up to the final day of Kiss the Pig! Want to make a teacher kiss the pig? You can put coins into kiss the pig jars in most classrooms around the school designated for specific candidates. At the end of the week the coins will be counted and the teacher with the most money will be kissing the pig on Friday! The candidates are: Mr. Bastin, Mr. Morgan, Ms. Diaz, Ms. Joanna Glover, Miss Eller, Mrs. Heintz, Ms. Ruggiero-Reed, Mr. Mahon.
* If you received notification that you were selected as a National Merit Finalist, come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office to pick up your certificate!
* SENIORS: The Cal Grant deadline is March 2. If you received a postcard saying we cannot submit Cal Grant information for you because we don't have your social security number, come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office, located next to counseling, this week. You cannot be considered for a Cal Grant without this information. If you have any questions about Cal Grants or the FAFSA, come to the Scholarship office this week!

* SENIORS: If you're planning to attend UCD, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, and you worked during high school, you may qualify for the $11,400 Beeghly-Merritt Scholarship! Applications are available in the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office. The deadline to apply is March 26, so come to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office next to counseling to pick up an application!
