[Dhsbb-jazz] May 7 Senior Concert and Retirement Celebration to Honor Fred Lange

DHS bands present special concert and reception to honor Fred Lange's retirement

	The annual Davis High School Bands' Senior Concert, which traditionally honors the accomplishments of graduating seniors, will have special meaning this year as it will also include a celebration of the distinguished career of director Fredrick Lange, and will be his last concert as conductor of the Symphonic Band.  
	The concert will be Monday May 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Brunelle Performing Arts Theater, on the Davis High School campus at 315 W. 14th Street.  The Symphonic Band will perform several numbers, followed by the full combined band, which includes members of the Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band. The concert will be followed by a reception in the adjacent Veteran's Memorial Center, in honor of band director Fred Lange, who is retiring at the end of this school year after many years at the helm of the award-winning band program at the high school. 
	The concert and reception are offered free of charge and the public is invited to enjoy the music of the bands and to say thank you to Lange for his many contributions to music education at the high school as well as in the elementary music program.
	Lange's final concert at Davis High School, "Jazz On A Summer's Eve", will be coming up on Friday June 1, 7:30 pm, at the Brunelle Performing Arts Theater.  On that evening, the Jazz Band performance will include an original piece of music commissioned by the DHS Band Boosters for this occasion by composer/arranger Eric Richards of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln School of Music. Richards will perform with the Jazz Band, with Fred Lange at the podium at the concert.
