[Dhsbb-jazz] UCD Jazz Band concert this week

                 UCD Jazz Band Concert on  Wed., Oct 16th @ 8 pm 
  in the Mondavi Center's Studio Theater
    The UC Davis Jazz band includes 3 current DHS Jazz 
Band members, Grace Pettygrove (trombone), Sam Dickey(guitar) and Colin Borges (tenor saxophone) and also last year's DHS senior (now UCD freshman) Billy Ferguson (trombone).

   
    *UC Davis Jazz Band*, Mike McMullen, director. Terrifically swinging  charts from Stan Kenton/Bill Holman and Thelonious Monk/Buddy Rich;  late ’50s hard bop from Art Blakey/Steve Weist; roots gospel from
    Shelley Berg; urban funk from Bob Mintzer, and an evocative ballad  by Oliver Nelson. 
  The jazz combo *Invictus Phinaeus Sexagon* will
    open the concert. [$10 A; $5 S & C]
