This list was created for community activism and calls for action. The
social media news posts are a call for people to participate and to like
and repost the DDC posts. Every like and repost drives up the visibility
of social media posts and aids in our getting our message out. The
social media team needs your help. Please log and help like, repost and
post in support of the DDC Bluesky and X/Twitter accounts. We also are
now starting a new Next Door DDC account. We have many DDC members on
this social network, so the DDC account will have a lot of friends and
supporters there. Follow the DDC and comment and like there. #RESIST
I will post the links to the DDC pages on social media. Please visit
and like, quote, comment, and repost DDC posts.

The newest support for congressional districts is club support for
Iowa. The DDC wanted to find a place where club money could have the
greatest impact. The PAC committee looked and identified Iowa. Iowa is
a state that is completely controlled by Republicans. The Red party
controls the Governor, 2 Senator and 3 House seats. Democrat Rob Sand
leads in the race for governor, along with Democrat Josh Turek in the US
Senate race who trailed by 2 points with a 4 point margin of error in
the latest Fortune magazine quoted poll -- so that is a statistical
tie. The DDC decided to put $4000 into the House races where our money
would have the greatest effect. Well the money did have an effect. The
latest polls show that the Dems are now leading in CD1 and CD2 and that
CD2 is now a toss up. The DDC Bluesky account looked at each of the
races and found that Lindsay James is the most vibrant of the three
candidates. She has a biting sense of humor, which the Republicans have
taken as a challenge to pillory and parody her campaign. As such, the
DDC has embraced the James account and we expect to do more with her
campaign on Bluesky. We are already posting on these 3 House races. We
would like to remind everyone that these were Red seats and there is a
good chance they will turn Blue. There is a 4th congressional district
in Iowa. In that district Red candidate Chris McGowan received 55,000
votes. The Democrat Dave Dawson received 11,300 votes with 17,500 votes
split between two other Democrats. There are not enough Blue votes in
the district to beat McGowan, who captured 58.64% of the vote in the
primary. A race where you and I can make a difference is Lindsay James
in Iowa. Her district is right now, a statistical tie. Her website is
https://www.lindsayforiowa.com. The other two Iowa candidates Bohanan
CD1 and Garriot CD3 have surged in the polls since Trump started on his
campaign tour and the current polls place them 1 to 2 points ahead of
their Republican opponents.
The campaigns that have thanked us on social media for the DDC
contributions are: Marne vonWilpert, Randy Villegas, Dave Min, Derek
Tran, and Myra Vega. We are trying to help more on social media with
Mayra Vega campaign. The Yolo Business PAC is supporting her opponent
with money and $98,000 in materials and logistical support. We continue
to go further with help on social media. We are also integrated on
social media with the Collen Zern campaign for District 1, West Davis
school board race.
We are now fully supporting Mary Peltola on Facebook, interacting with
her campaign. We are taking her Facebook content and posting and
promoting her with original DDC posts on Bluesky and X/Twitter.
We are fully involved with the Randy Villegas campaign on social media,
posting and reposting for the campaign. We were already in full
campaign support mode for Mike Thompson and Dave Min. Dave Min is the
only Congressman that continued to post weekly after the 2024 election
and like Mike Thompson follows us on X/Twitter. Because of this, the DDC
has been fully supporting Min and Thompson on social media from day 1 of
the 119th Congress.
We have heard from the Randy Villegas and Marni von Wilpert campaigns on
social media and they have both thanked us for the financial and online
social media support. They are both deeply appreciative of the DDC
support. On social media we have heard from the Mike Levin campaign for
congress. He is in the district next to von Wilpert and is expected to
win by 4 points in CD 49. He is asking for support for Marni von
Wilpert in CD48. Marne von Wilpert was an Obama workers rights attorney
in San Diego County. She flipped a seat Blue on the Red San Diego City
Council. She is for labor and immigrant rights. She is running against
a Trump supported MAGA opponent, whose campaign is based on hate of what
they are calling the flood of illegal aliens bringing crime into
Riverside and San Diego County. Marni von Wilpert is a lightening rod
for the war against ICE and supporter of immigrant rights. That is why
there is so much Republican party money going into this race. If von
Wilpert is able to win and flip another Red seat Blue, she will show
that hate and fear do not win elections, but love, understanding and
tolerance can win the day and point to a brighter future for the
American dream. I just want DDC members to understand what is at stake
in this district election and why so much money and energy is being
poured into it by both sides. The DDC and The Verbs are making a
difference. No matter what happens in this election, the DDC is
supporting morality, not hate, fear and intolerance. If we flip this
seat, we will have succeeded in furthering implementing our message on
social media. We will have to see if the polls are affected by Trump's
recent rhetoric which is using San Diego as a prop for a nuclear attack
from Iran. No matter how you slice and dice the words, no other
president in my memory has mentioned two American cities for nuclear
attack. If vonWilpert wins CD 48 with a wide margin, it will be clear
that Trump is the one that provided the Democrats that seat that was too
close to call before his latest speeches.
For those looking for the club Twitter (now X) account:
https://x.com/DavisDemocratic We now are at 6,900 Followers. We are now
100 followers above our midterm goal of 6800. We are 1000 followers
above the 5800 follower limit. If our number of followers drop below
that number, we will close the X/Twitter account so as to not pay any
money or contribute numbers to Elon Musk and his platform success. The
BIG difference to date is that we are actively interfacing with the 16
campaigning congress people on X and informing them of the $38,000 that
the DDC has donated to their campaigns plus the Governor's race and the
Yolo County Supervisor Race. We are too small for them to ban us and we
continue to post and magnify anti-Trump posts. We continue to work to
flip the House and Senate Blue. We continue to #RESIST I cannot post
it enough, I get most of our hardest hitting material from Blue posts on
X to post on Bluesky.
Please join us on Bluesky. The Davis Democratic Club on Bluesky is:
https://bsky.app/profile/davisdemocraticclub.org We are at 39,151
Followers. What makes the work easier on social media is the help of
Eileen Samitz with supporting posting material. Luba Schmid contributes
both photos an movies and helps with likes and comments. Luba Schmid
and I produce local material and plan to cover No Kings Day with
material and posts on October 17. Pytor Alexievich, an American in
Kyiv, provides material from Ukraine and is a good friend to the DDC. We
get invaluable follower recruitment support from Judith Bolyard, an
American in Thailand. Judith has been attracting 30 to 50 Followers per
day to the DDC Bluesky account. We get additional editorial cartoons
and follower recruitment support from a person that goes by the
handle ACW1234. Of course we would not be part of the #RESIST movement
is not for all the unemployed National Park workers at Alt National
Parks. I purchase the Smokey the Bear #RESIST pins and bumper stickers
from them that we give away to any who want them at the PBE meetings.
We get all our news about what Trump is doing -- everywhere. When we
started following them, they had over 140,000 followers. They have
grown to a massive 896,120+ Followers. They took the DDC #RESIST and
made it their own. And, I appreciate it, because they turned it into
merch I can give away to #RESIST Trump! You can pick up this #RESIST
merch at the PBE meetings.
For those looking for the club Facebook account:
https://www.facebook.com/DavisDemocrats We have picked up a hundred
followers and now have over 1700 followers.
Again, please help the DDC on social media by logging in and follow,
like, and repost DDC account and posts. To find our accounts please use
the links above.
