Dear Democratic friends: Any donation you make to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee by this Thursday, Feb.28, will be doubled. The purpose of this emergency effort is to marshal the funds to regain the U.S. House of Representatives for the Democrats, and away from the control of the Tea Party. Website is www.dccc.org and then click on "contribute now."  If you are retired, state your occupation as "retired."

The USA Today/ Pew Research Center polling of Feb. 21 shows that a majority of voters  favor Obama's economic and infrastructure  policies, which the Republicans in Congress are still trying to obstruct. 60% of Americans feel that the President is doing a good job. Let's help him continue by strengthening his hand with the House of Representatives. We are very fortunate to have excellent U.S. Congressmembers  in our northern part of the Central Valley: John M. Garamendi, Ami Bera, and Jerry McNerney.  

 As it did in 1994 when Republican Newt Gingrich was  Speaker of the House, the Republican-manufactured melodram of shutting down the government  is highly likely to backfire and reinforce public distrust in the good will of the Republican Party.  Let government  care about  the 99%,  not  the 1% who are doing just fine.  John C. Chendo
