Dear Democratic friends: In 2012, Democrats won 5 of the 6 most important gubernatorial elections in critical swing states--Montana, Missouri,New Hampshire,Washington, West Virginia.

But Republicans still hold 30 governorships, in states covering more than half of our nation's population. These states are targets where Republicans are   attacking   voting rights, public education, workers, women, and the middle class. They can obstruct affordable health care.

In 2013 and 2014, 38 states will have expensive contested elections for governor--including among others New Jersey, Virginia, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida,
