From ksouza at yctd.org Fri Jun 20 15:36:34 2003 From: ksouza at yctd.org (Kathy Souza) Date: Fri, 20 Jun 2003 15:36:34 -0700 Subject: [Yolobus Public Announcement] International Agricultural Science & Technology Expo Event and Contingency Plans for YOLOBUS Message-ID: <000001c3377c$684153d0$6701a8c0@100015> June 20, 2003 YOLOBUS RIDERS: We are working on several routing contingencies in the event protest events in downtown Sacramento and Davis affect our routes Sunday-Wednesday (June 22-25). While we will try to minimize them, some service delays may occur. If you see no cars on the street segment you normally board at, due to the protest, then chances are our buses won't be able to stop there either. While there are many variations of what could happen next week, I'd like to suggest that afternoon express bus (39, 43, 44, 45, 230, 231, 232) riders who board near the Cal/EPA building AND along 10th Street walk to RT bus stops along 9th Street between K and P Streets in the afternoons, particularly on Monday, June 23rd. This is because portions of 10th Street between L and N Streets may be blocked off, preventing us from being able to do our normal afternoon route. We hope all other YOLOBUS routes wont' be affected. We may need to make other emergency routing changes, depending on what the police do in response to different scenarios. We will try to have extra buses and supervisors in downtown Sacramento during the afternoon commute period to assist you and to put up information signs if the routes do need to change. Also, please look at our web page (yolobus.com) from time to time and check your email for updates. If you have not given us an email address, you can send one to custserv at yctd.org. Also, you can call YOLOBUS at (916) 371-2877 or (800) 371-2877 to get updates. We have several routing contingencies in the event protest events in downtown Sacramento and Davis affect our routes any different than they did yesterday. While we will try to minimize them, some service delays may occur because of the protests. As a general rule, if you see no cars on the street segment you normally board at, due to the protest, then chances are our buses won't be able to stop there either. While there may be variations of what could happen, we suggest that riders of afternoon express buses #39, 43, 44, 45, 230, 231, and 232 who board near the Cal/EPA building, as well as those who board along 10th Street, walk to RT bus stops along 9th Street between K and P Streets in the afternoons from now through Thursday, June 26th. This is because portions of 10th Street between L and N Streets may be blocked off, preventing us from being able to do our normal afternoon route. We hope all other Y0LOBUS routes and trips won't be affected. Yesterday, we had supervisors and management personnel at 11th/I, 9th/L, 9th/N and 10th/N to help guide the afternoon commuters. While we will still have a downtown supervisor presence, their locations may change as needed. We may need to make other emergency routing changes, depending on what the police do in response to different scenarios. We will try to have extra buses and supervisors in downtown Sacramento during the afternoon commute period to assist you and to put up information signs if the routes do need to change. Thank you for your patience. Check your email and keep referring to this emergency announcement page for updates. Therefore, please adhere to the following: Express routes 39, 43, 44, 45, 230, 231, 232: The afternoon outbound buses will NOT stop at I/11th; rather, they will start at 9th/K, travel south on 9th to P, turn right on P, right on 8th, Left on L, and proceed along their regular routes. DO NOT TRY BOARDING AT I/11TH, L/9th OR ALONG 10TH STREET. YOLOBUS route 42: Will NOT stop at I/11th; rather, it will begin and end at 9th/K, turn right on L and then travel its regular route. YOLOBUS routes 40/41: Should be able to operate along their regular routes; however, those buses may layover at a stop other than 9th/K. All you need to know is that you should be able to board that bus at the same stops as before. We plan to have supervisor and managers in downtown Sacramento to help you out. Also, call YOLOBUS at 1-916-371-2877 if you have any questions. We may need to make other emergency routing changes, depending on what the police do in response to different scenarios. We will try to have extra buses and supervisors in downtown Sacramento during the afternoon commute period to assist you and to put up information signs if the routes do need to change. Yolobus Update Message-ID: Passenger Announcements June 24, 2003, 3:52 p.m. Attention YOLOBUS Riders: Officials in downtown sacramento have told us that we can board riders at I/11th (Cal/EPA building). Do not try boarding YOLOBUS express buses on 10th Street. Please heed to the following advice: YOLOBUS Express routes 39, 43, 44, 45, 230, 231, 232: The afternoon outbound buses NOW WILL stop at I/11th. If buses are denied access there, use the bus stops on 9th Street between K and P Streets. The express buses will use 9th, P, and 8th Streets to get back to L Street. DO NOT TRY BOARDING AT L/9th, OR ALONG 10TH STREET. YOLOBUS route 42: WILL stop at I/11th, until we are forced off it, in which case we will board at 9th/K, turn right on L and then travel its regular route. YOLOBUS routes 40/41: Should be able to operate along their regular routes; however, those buses may layover at a stop other than 9th/K. All you need to know is that you should be able to board that bus at the same stops as before. We plan to have supervisor and managers in downtown Sacramento to help you out.
