From jlofland at dcn.org Mon Nov 12 13:53:49 2018 From: jlofland at dcn.org (John Lofland) Date: Mon, 12 Nov 2018 13:53:49 -0800 Subject: [OldNorth] New Brown Act Agenda Publication Requirements Message-ID: <99786014-52ed-2f80-73f8-c107bf3d33fd@dcn.org> As a quasi-official unit of the City of Davis, the ONDNA has certain obligations to act in an "open government" fashion and these obligations may include practices regarding the advance publication of information on its official meetings. I have just learned that Brown Act requirements regarding the publication of agendas will change on January 1, 2019. These changes are outlined in the attached PDF article by two attorneys who specialize in these topics. ONDNA officials may want to consider the implications of these changes for how that organization operates. If this reading is correct and you have not already posted the letter for the public to read, might I ask you to do so at this time? Post it on the ONDNA website, to the two listservs, and/or Nextdoor? Or, please otherwise make it public in advance of the ONDNA public meeting this Thursday. The reason for this request is the obvious one of providing information to everyone and allowing them as much time as possible to think about it. If letter is already posted and I have missed it, please do help me find it and I apologize for having to bother you about locating it. Many thanks.
