TDD: 530/757-5666 NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING NOTICE The City of Davis will be hosting a neighborhood meeting to discuss an application for a Cold Weather Shelter at 512 Fifth Street Date of Meeting: Wednesday, January 4, 2006 Time: 7:00 p.m. Location: Hattie Weber Museum, 445 C Street T toap i Sid.i e tp ct. Project Description: Davis Community Meals (DCM) is applying to use the house at 512 Fifth Street, next door to the Fire Station and currently operated as transitional housing, as a Cold Weather Shelter from January until mid-April 2006. The shelter is proposed to provide up to 10 beds, approximately 8 beds for men and 2 for women, for homeless individuals who need shelter during cold weather months. Details of the proposal are as follows: Hours of Operation: Daily from 6pm to 8am the next morning. Residents of the shelter would be permitted to arrive from 6pm until 8 pm and would be required to leave by 7:30am. Residents would not be permitted to leave and re-enter the same night. All residents would be provided information about local homeless services (food, shelter, clothing, counseling, transportation) and would be given the opportunity to use laundry and shower facilities at DCM?s transitional housing facility at 1111 H Street during the day. Loitering during hours that the shelter is closed would not be permitted and the applicant proposes to post No Loitering signs on-site Residents would be required to agree to House Rules for the shelter that restrict loitering during closed hours, on-site consumption of drugs and alcohol, possession of weapons, etc. 3 staff members are proposed to be on-site from 6pm-11pm and 2 staff members are proposed to be on-site from 11pm until 8 am the next morning (primarily volunteer staff will be used) If you are unable to attend the neighborhood meeting but would like to receive additional information or provide comments, please contact Danielle Foster, Housing Programs Manager at the City of Davis Hunt Boyer building, 604 Second Street, Davis CA 95616, with the phone number (530) 757-5691 or email her at dfoster at cityofdavis.org.
