Here is Sue Greenwald's view (forwarded with her permission). According to Bette,Ted moved, seconded by Steve,to direct >Harriet to come back with wording that would change the ordinance from >"selection of Mayor by highest vote-getter" to "selection of Mayor by vote >of council." Public comments on the concepts are requested. The concepts to be presented include: First Street and A Street intersection; First Street; Mondavi Center to downtown shuttle; Arboretum east entry; Third Street corridor; and Mondavi Center to downtown pedestrian corridor / ?arts walk?. The workshop will be facilitated by the consultant team of Winsler & Kelly engineers, Wallace, Roberts & Todd landscape architects & planners, and staff from the City of Davis and UC Davis. For more information Contact: Bob Wolcott, City of Davis Community Development Department, (530) 757-5610, rwolcott at cityofdavis.org or Karl Mohr, UCD Office of Resource Management and Planning, (530) 754-9617, kfmohr at ucdavis.edu. ===== Shortly after the opening of the Mondavi Center I pointed out to the Mondavi management and various other organizations concerned with transportation that while I live in the center of Davis, Mondavi might as well be on the far side of the moon, since "you can't get there from here" by public transit, a situation that is even worse on weekends and evenings. Mondavi seems to have been primarily planned as a "regional" center for the well-heeled equipped with private autos, and to be accessed from the freeway. The Mondavi Web site's directions all assume approach from I-80. Valerie Vann valerie at vanngroup.com
