From winterety at sbcglobal.net Tue Mar 1 20:24:35 2005 From: winterety at sbcglobal.net (sheryl lynn gerety) Date: Tue, 1 Mar 2005 20:24:35 -0800 Subject: [OldNorth] Fwd: B Street email mailing Message-ID: ON Residents: The choice between these two options will set important precedents in the development of downtown Davis. I hope you will read Worley's e-mail, follow-up with the links to the document, and then express your opinion in writing and, as various meetings are held, in person. I believe the B St proposal will go first to the Historic Resources Management Commission, in a meeting this coming Monday. The agenda is not yet posted, but I will send it as a follow-up when I have it. Best to all of you, Bruce Begin forwarded message: > B and 3rd Streets Visioning Process > Planning Options Summary Report > You are invited to Review and Comment > > Thank you to all who have attended or expressed interest in the B and > 3rd Streets Visioning Process. As many of you know community workshops > were held in October and December to solicit community input on a range > of redevelopment options for the west portion of B Street between 2nd > and 4th Streets and the portion of 3rd Street between University Avenue > and B Street. The purpose of the workshops was to develop a shared > vision that could guide future investment opportunities in a manner > that > enhances the neighborhood and community. > > A Planning Options Summary Report has now been prepared that presents > two neighborhood design patterns for infill development. These > alternatives attempt to respond to and reflect the range of comments > raised during the two community workshops and will be considered by the > City Council in determining desired changes in development guidelines > for this area. As the options are refined it is possible that elements > of each may be incorporated into a final preferred alternative. > > Option A - Traditional Pattern - develops within the traditional > neighborhood yard and setback patterns. Allows new three-story attached > homes and small lot single family on B Street, accessory dwelling units > over garages along the alleys, and some additional mixed use along 3rd > Street. Existing Historic buildings and the structures on the corners > of > B and 3rd would be retained. > > Option B - New Development Pattern - allows a greater increase in > infill housing and retains a front yard set back pattern for > residential > uses on B Street. It would allow development of new three-story > rowhousing on B Street and alley townhouses with parking courts > accessed > from alleys. Existing historic buildings would be retained.
