[OldNorth] Pedestrians

A little clip from the newsrag of the AARP:

" Step It Up... Or Else:
Many New Yorkers simply
can't walk fast enough to
safely navigate the city's
broad intersections. A study
by Transportation Alterna-
tives, a local citizens' group,
found that most of the cross-
walks require pediestrians to
walk at a clip of at least 4
feet a second to cross before
the light changes -- a hair-
rasing if not impossible chal-
enge for all but the most
fleet-footed."

Davis' lights aren't quite that short,
but you still need to move out smartly
as soon as the light changes in your
favor, or risk getting honked at or "crowded"
by some impatient motorist.
:-)
