Dear Old North Neighbor:

	Today you received in the mail a “Neighborhood Survey” for a Special
Preferential Parking District in Old North Davis. It is a result of
several months of deliberation with the City Manager, Parking
Enforcement, City traffic engineers, and the City attorney.

	We, the ONDNA Board, urge you to support your neighbors by returning
the survey card with a YES vote. Be sure to include your address.

	We believe we have crafted a parking solution that is the best
possible for the varied interests of Old North residents. It creates
a parking district with restricted spaces equivalent to the number of
house lots within an otherwise unrestricted parking zone.

	If this Special District is approved, you and your neighbors will be
able to leave and return to park near their homes during the day, for
medical appointments, for shopping or for errands involving children.
Lack of open spaces in street side parking has been especially
difficult for the elderly and those with families in the 6th to 7th
street blocks, where there are very few homes with curb-cut driveways.
Residents also can loan their permits temporarily to visitors and/or
service vehicles. Approximately 40% of the existing ON parking will be
restricted and available for permitted parking.

	If this Special District is approved, anyone, resident or not, freely
can park one or more cars in the unrestricted 60% of the spaces
available. This means that you do not have to buy a permit to park in
ON. You have access to all unrestricted spaces, including those that
will be adjacent to your home. If you do purchase a permit, you will
have access to any of the restricted spaces. However, because
households get only one permit, we are confident that permit holders
will choose to park in a restricted space adjacent to their residence.

	An “Other” vote, however appealing your idea, will count as a “No”
vote so far as the solution we and the City have worked hard to craft.

	Please support your neighbors; vote “Yes” on this Special District.
If you have questions, ideas, or need assistance getting your ballot to
the post office, please contact one of the Old North Neighborhood
Association Board members:

	Bruce Winterhalder (602 C; 758-3990);
	Angela Willson (301 6th; 757-6683);
	Dennis Dingemans (645 C; 753-559);
	Daniel Braunschweig (633D);
	Steve Tracey (642 D; 756-4921);
	Dan Quickert (616 D; 756-0575); or,
	Andrew Wallace.
Thank-you.  Your OND neighbors.
