Thanks, Z. Some of you might know that I am a 1984 graduate of the Sociology Dept, and was Co-Chair of the Undergraduate Student Association. In this City Council position, I am surrounded by sociological issues, and data. It's a great job! I've known John and Lyn a long time, and respect their work immensely. Go team! Mike Harrington ps I need to review all of the R-2 zoning documents and meet with some neighbors. Anyone want to brief me and walk around Old East and North to see how the proposed policy change might influence the nature and characteristics of the historic residential areas of town? It's coming back to the CC in a couple of weeks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Z Smith" To: ; Cc: Sent: Sunday, January 04, 2004 1:10 PM Subject: Re: Population Density in Davis-- a nifty map, and some figures from the Census > John's piece sent me to the U.S. Census web site and I found some > interesting things, including a pretty map and some nice figures for > perspective. > > Enjoy... > > Z > > _________________________________________________________________ > Enjoy a special introductory offer for dial-up Internet access - limited > time only! http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/dialup > From jflofland at ucdavis.edu Sun Jan 4 15:03:17 2004 From: jflofland at ucdavis.edu (John Lofland) Date: Sun, 4 Jan 2004 15:03:17 -0800 Subject: [OldNorth] Old North Density Message-ID: I attach, in pdf, the explanation of calculating Old North density I mentioned previously. I have a very long tape measure (that Z Smith has seen me using in the streets) if anyone wants to borrow it and measure blocks to get more accurate data than those used by the Census. (Measurements of College Park would be especially interesting.) John -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
