From jflofland at ucdavis.edu Mon Dec 8 12:08:20 2003 From: jflofland at ucdavis.edu (John Lofland) Date: Mon, 8 Dec 2003 12:08:20 -0800 Subject: [OldNorth] Old North Parking Message-ID: Hello Old North Resident, As you know, the City is proposing to "dump" increased parking on the area northeast of Fifth and B and thereby to make our parking problems much worse. They want to be this by reducing parking times in the western part of the downtown. (This situation is explained in a pdf that will arrive separately after it is approved for sending--because of its size-- by Andy Wallace.) The law that would make this happen comes up for a second reading this Tuesday. Mike Harrington will pull it for discussion, I will make some or all of the remarks stated in the pdf Andy Wallace will send you soon, and Ken Hiatt of Planning will respond for the City (and agree with me). We will prevail in turning back this change, I think, What is more important is the opening this event creates in speeding up City action on our parking problems. Speaking at Public Comment time at 7;30 in support of broader reform of the central Davis parking scheme would be very helpful in moving the process along faster. Thanks.
