I received a call last night from a neighbor who had gone to the co-op to find out what is going on. Eric explained to this person that the building would be no larger than the 2 story on the other corner (and BTW did we ever get notification as a hood about that site?).

Also, was informed that there will be a board meeting this Monday at 7 p.m. and the first space on the agenda is opened for conversation. I am unable to attend as I'm on a board that meets that evening.

Would be great if many of you could attend.

FYI:

I got a notice of the meeting
Sat. at COOP Sept. 6, 10:30 am at Coop meeting room
in my mailbox today (thursday 4th)

Since it was apparently hand delivered rather than mailed,
I assume only COOP neighbors got this notice.

I was unable to attend the last ONDNA meeting, but I am concerned
that the brief and uninformative notices of the COOP building plans
issue contained in the COOP newspaper have given the impression that all
is sweetness and light. There is no indication of any problems with
the neighborhood, etc.

And the project is termed "redevelopment",
so unless you are reading between the lines with a great deal of
skepticism, you might not infer that "redevelopment" means total
destruction and replacement with a huge building with a vastly expanded
agenda. It gives me the suspicion that the COOP management is attempting
to sweep the issue under the rug, doing damage control to prevent
involvement of the whole COOP community, and hoping to placate the
neighborhood while pushing the project on through.

I am also concerned that this is being treated by both the COOP and
the NDNA as a problem of the immediate neighborhood, and no effort is/has
been made on either side to inform/enlist the entire COOP membership
and/or other neighborhood groups (which include many COOP members) who
could be sympathetic to the concerns of our neighborhood. Were wider
contacts explored by the ONDNA at the last meeting?
