*🌱 THE GARDEN AT HARPER*
*Growing Students. Growing Community. Growing the Future.*
The *Garden at Harper* is a vibrant *1/3-acre educational garden* where
students and community members connect with nature, learn by doing, and
discover the joy of growing food.
*🌿 An Outdoor Classroom*
Every great garden begins with a seed. The Garden at Harper began with a
vision: *to create a place where young people can learn by doing.*
Today, that vision is taking root.
Students don't just read about plants, soil, insects, water, and
food—they *touch
the soil, plant seeds, watch them grow, and harvest the results.* The
garden changes with the seasons, creating a living classroom throughout the
year.
The garden includes:
🌾 Native California plants
🌿 Herbs and perennial gardens
🥕 Raised beds with carrots, radishes, and other crops
🥬 Seasonal vegetables
But we grow more than vegetables. Students develop *responsibility,
patience, teamwork, science skills, stewardship, and an appreciation for
healthy food.*
*👩🌾 Growing More Than Plants*
· A student who plants a seed learns that growth takes time.
· A student who pulls a carrot from the soil discovers where food
comes from.
· A student who watches bees visit flowers begins to understand the
importance of pollinators.
And a student working alongside a volunteer learns that *knowledge is
something we share with one another.*
These are lessons and experiences that can last a lifetime.
*🤝 We Need Your Help*
The Garden at Harper is growing—and *we need more hands to help it
flourish!*
*You don't have to be an expert gardener.* If you are willing to show up,
get your hands dirty, and help something grow, we can teach you what you
need to know.
Volunteers can help with:
*Planting • Weeding • Watering • Harvesting • Native Plants • Garden Design
• Construction • Maintenance • Student Activities*
Volunteer sessions are generally *Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings*,
but volunteers can also arrange *evening and weekend schedules.*
*🌻 Can You Help?*
Give a few hours a week? Share a gardening skill?
Help with a special project? Work alongside students?
Help create an inspiring outdoor classroom?
*Then we want you on our team!*
Come for one morning. Meet the students and volunteers. See what we're
doing and find your place in the garden.
*🌱 HELP US GROW THE NEXT CHAPTER*
*VOLUNTEER • DONATE • SPONSOR • SHARE*
*Bring your hands. Bring your heart. Bring your love of gardening.*
Every hour you give creates another opportunity for a student to *plant,
learn, grow, and succeed.*
*Your time can grow a garden.*
*Your hands can grow a student's confidence.*
*Together, we can grow a future.*
