It has become abundantly clear that the Trinity Management Council by and through its leadership is trying to silence county Sup. Liam Gogan at its meetings through an arbitrary application of the procedural rules governing that body.

When asked why the rules regarding the rights of alternate representatives to speak had not been enforced in the past Executive Director Mike Dixon opined that their application is largely dependent upon the “personality” of the TMC chairman. That sounds arbitrary and capricious to any normal person and more importantly the action is aimed at silencing Supervisor Gogan whose extensive knowledge of the Trinity River makes the TMC hierarchy uncomfortable.

The river is the crown jewel of Trinity County and as such thoughtful debate in the wake of the scathing 2018 Headwaters Audit report of TRRP should be fostered rather than silenced.
