Field Hockey: Attention Athletes who are interested in trying out for the the Fall 2020 DHS Girls Field Hockey Teams.  There will be a meeting Tuesday February 4th at 7pm in the All Student Center at DHS.  This meeting is for athletes and parents to meet the coaches, receive information about the team, season and spring/summer training opportunities. Davis High Basketball Break The Record Night is Friday, January 31 vs Cosumes Oaks. Come enjoy four exciting games:  JV Girls-3:00pm; JV Boys-4:30pm; Varsity Girls-6:00pm; Varsity Boys-7:30pm. Applications are being accepted for the CIF Scholar-Athlete. Deadline is February 5.
The two State winners (1 boy and 1 girl) will each receive a $5,000 scholarship and the 20 Section winners (1 boy and 1 girl per CIF Section) will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Applications are also available in the Career Center.

ACADEMICS/OPORTUNITIES/EVENTS: All students signed up to take the Advanced Placement Language and Composition Exam in May: This week is the first of your lunchtime study sessions. You may choose lunch on Wednesday the 28th OR lunch on Friday the 31st. This week's topic is "what to expect on the multiple-choice section." Please check your student email for the February, March, and April topics. Any questions, please see Mrs. Guerard. All meetings unless otherwise noted will be in room P21.

Hey Seniors, graduation season is soon approaching. For more information about the graduation ceremony, ticket sale, time and announcements, please visit the Graduation Information FAQ page on the schools website.
Any students who wish to take AP Art Studio and have NOT taken the introductory class, MUST submit a portfolio to the Art Dept by February12th. Please see any art teacher for any questions and the information flyer.

Seniors - Buy Your Grad Night Ticket Before Prices Go Up!  Grad Night tickets are now on sale and the prices go up FEBRUARY 1ST !  Every graduating senior in Davis ( DaVinci, DSIS, King and DHS) is welcome to celebrate at this ALL-night party on Friday, June 12th from 9:30pm- 5:00am. Senior Parents - Submit Kinder Photos - Help us make your student's Grad Night extra special! Each senior should submit a wallet-size digital Kindergarten head shot photo (approx. 2x3 inches) for the popular Kindergarten Wall at Grad Night - the students love to search for their younger selves and their friends throughout the night. CLUBS:Come to Spanish Club in O-6 on Wednesday January 29th at lunch to learn about tutoring in Spanish at Ceasar Chavez Elementary School. If you can't make the meeting and are interested. See Ms. Candelario in O-6 this week.
National FFA week is coming up! The first event i son Wednesday February 19th at 8 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. in Room O-1, (Mr. Hess's room). We will be serving plates of pancakes, sausages & more for $3. Anyone is welcome! So come!

Nihao Culture Clubbers join us this Tuesday, the 28th in P-23 to celebrate year of the rat and Rich Chinese culture. The significance of which in our contemporary world resonates with a soaring prominence.
Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Incorparated at UC Davis is hosting a Latina Youth Leadership Conference on Saturday, February 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you are interested in attending please stop by the Academic Center room L-10 for your registration packet. Last day to register is Monday, January 27th.
CAREERS: Da Vinci Charter Academy, the American Association of University Women and Explorit Science Center are hosting See It, Be It - A Night Celebrating Women in STEM on Tuesday, January 28th from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Da Vinci High School MPR. The event is free and open to all junior high and high school students. It will feature brief presentations from six highly accomplished women working in the STEM fields.  Please come out to learn about potential pathways to successful STEM careers.
If you plan to attend community college in the fall, we have scheduled a second Sacramento City College application workshop on Thursday, January 30 at 10:00 in the library computer lab.  At the workshop, you will receive help completing the Los Rios online application.  Come to the Career Center to sign up!
If you are a junior boy or junior girl interested in government, come to the Career Center to apply for the American Legion Boys State and Girls State all-expense paid summer camps.  At the camps, students will actively participate in all phases of creating and running a working government. Those who apply must have leadership skills and an interest in community and government. Deadline to apply is February 14.  Come to the Career Center for an application.
The City of Davis is offering its annual So-Cal Safari College Tour for high school students from April 6-9 during spring break.  Colleges visited on the tour are USC, UCLA, CSU Long Beach, CSU Northridge and Cal State LA.  Cost is $575, which includes transportation, college tours, breakfast, dinner and hotels.  Come to the Career Center for more information.
Juniors interested in learning what it's like to be an FBI agent can apply for the Spring Sacramento FBI Teen Academy held on Friday, April 3 at the FBI headquarters in Roseville.  Students will hear presentations on terrorism, cyber-crime, public corruption, polygraph exams, evidence response, SWAT, and the day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 6.  Come to the Career Center for an application.
