*ACADEMICS/OPPORTUNITIES/EVENTS: *
AP Exams are $99 per test. Online sales are now until 10/11.* The
PSAT/NMQST is Saturday, 10/19. *The cost is $25.00. There are a limited
number of tests available. If you feel this is a financial hardship, please
contact your counselor. Juniors *only *sign-ups are now up ‘til 10/1 and
sophomores sign-ups begins 9/17 to 10/1
*ATTENDANCE: *If you are planning to visit a College Campus -*Only* Seniors
will receive a *maximum of two days* as excused Absences. What do you have
to do to get absences excused?
· Students need to submit to the attendance office documentation 3
days prior to the college visit.
· Students need to provide an appropriate documentation from the
College or University they are visiting.
· College visits needs to be pre-approved by an administrator.
Questions come to the Attendance office for clarification.

*Committees: *
DHS Site Council is looking for dedicated students to join our committee.
The Site Council consists of Principal McHale, staff, parents, and
students. The Site Council discusses ways to improve student achievements
and supports new programs. Site Council meets on the 3rd Thursday of each
month from 3:30-5:00. If you would like to help shape the future of our
school, please pick up an application from Mr. McHale at the Front Desk in
the Main office by Monday, 09/23. Applications are due by noon on Tuesday,
09/24.
*CLUBS:*
Interested in joining a great service club with cool projects? CSF Fall
registration continues from today to Friday, 9/20/19, outside Ms. O’Brien’s
room, P-13. Pink registration sheets can be found in this room. To
register, bring a completed pink registration sheet, $15, last semester’s
report card and your green hous sheet if you are a return member.
Have you ever wanted to immerse yourself in a new culture – without even
leaving campus? Then swing by the Japanese Culture Club every Thursday at
lunch in room S-6.
Hey Blue Devils! Are you part of a sports team or club at DHS, if so do you
want to be in the Homecoming parade? Applications to be in the parade are
out & located in ASC 100!! They’re due 09/30, hope to see you there!
Hey Blue Devils! NHS registration begins today and ends on September 27.
Register outside of S-12 @ lunch & don’t forget to bring $5, an unofficial
transcript, and your hours sheet if you’re a returning member
The Spoke Editorial Board is looking for creative & driven new members to
help make Spoke Literary & Art Magazine awesome! Interested in joining the
team, stop by L-28 to fill out an application.
*CAREERS:*
The Sacramento Area Council of Governments is offering its Youth Leadership
Academy, where high school students will learn about local government,
network with local, state and national representatives and gain leadership
and professional development experience. Deadline to apply is September
30. Come to the Career Center for more information.
Interested in community service, social service and personal growth, you
may want to join The Youth Leadership Davis program. Students learn how to
be community leaders and will be trained as interns at the Davis Interfaith
Rotating Winter Shelter. Come to the Career Center for more information
High school tutors are needed for Holmes Junior High’s after school
homework club one or two days a week from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Homework club
starts today. Juniors or seniors are preferred. Come to the Career Center
for more information.
Looking for a job? Konditorei Austrian Pastry Café is hiring weekend
dishwashers, and the new El Patio Mexican restaurant and Burger IM are
currently hiring. Come to the Career Center for more information about
these job opportunities
Interested in being a Walker Creek CABIN LEADER? If so, cabin leaders are
needed for Montgomery Elementary’s Walker Creek trip December 2-6. Cabin
leaders must work well with children, enjoy being in the outdoors, and be
in good standing with the high school. Deadline to apply is September 25.

The City of Davis is now hiring Gymnastics Instructors*. *Several
different positions are available for students 16 years or older to coach
gymnastics routines. Pay is $13.00 per hour and hours are flexible. Come
to the Career Center for information on how to apply.
Cool Patch Pumpkins is hiring staff for their fall season. Duties include
food court, cashiering and pay is minimum wage. The pumpkin patch opens
this weekend so come to the Career Center *soon* for information on how to
apply.
